I got a Nikon D40 today, once the battery charges up I'll take some pictures. Seems like a pretty sweet camera for the price. Can anyone recomend a good lens set up for it? This is my first camera over $150, so I'm brand new to taking awesome pictures.

Did you buy a lens with it or no? The kit lenses are ok to get started on but nothing great. Depending on your budget I'd recommend trying to go one step higher than that with the lenses if possible.

Yeah it came with the kit lens, doesn't really zoom that far though. I'll rarely need a high zoom but it would be nice for taking pictures of stuff other than cars.

Ken Rockwell has some good write ups on this stuff for nikons.

I bought a D40 and pretty much followed his advice for lenses
