lol it was off and in the box of stock parts when i bought the car, and it has a aftermarket SMIC with Hardpipes and 3" vibrant exhaust

If it wasn't gonna be my daily, i might look into modding it further. but for the moment i'm just trying to get it to run right (drives fine, bad gas mileage, rough idle)

can almost guarantee its the IAC (idle air control)
happened on mine, i replaced it and it ran a lot better. Then got a split second air fuel controller with the base map and it ran even better.

hey sorry been busy but im back and forth replying to all post and quotes.

as for your heatshield sorry you cant powder coat it since the heat will discolor it,flake it, peel it, and so on.

we can how ever ceramic coat it for you let me know if that would be something you would want.

no problem, and really? VHT has a super high temp spray paint thats rated up to 2000degrees i don't the heat shield would get that hot that the PC would flake off, i could be wrong tho

I was in the same position, i even took it apart and tried to clean it and re install and was having the same problems.
I bit the bullet and bought the IAC and wish i did it sooner to be honest. Car should run better, get slightly better mpg, and peace of mind knowing its fixed making it worth it.

it can, standard powders might hold a temp of maybe 500 degrees and that might be pushing it the end result of pushing a powder over its edge can be anything from discoloring or bubbling or flaking off.

there is also a hi temp powder that i have used before but in my opinion its not even worth a pile of dog crap. just about every part i ever coated with it did not last too long, it might work on your heat shield but it might not, we can try if you want but i rather not have you go through the process for it to fail and then redo it in ceramic and having to pay twice for it
