bucks county aka the badlands

this is ridiculous, 100 rescue workers plus a helicopter searching for a woman who could of walked 3 miles max in any direction and would of been safe. atleast take a gps, compass or even a cell phone if ur not confident, i guess she did the right thing by staying put but honestly she could of saved the time of 100 people.

Haycock isn't that far out of town...eventually, you will find civilization. Just keep walking.

not paying attention when gym class taught you orienteering FTL. However, once you get out of quakertown you can find some decent chunks of wooded land.

However, this does not exclude her from being a dumbass for not taking a cell phone with her. She wanted to be one with nature for a couple of hours and she got more than she bargained for.

when its getting dusk and your sitting in the woods and staring at stuff you start seeing stuff, clutters of trees start looking like huge old houses, and the yellow leaves look like house lights

dude me and my boys used to drive to the boonies to try to get lost. No matter where we went, and which way we blindly drove, we always wound up back to a major road we were somewhat familiar with. Kind of crazy when you can't even get lost on purpose. lol

So there I was, middle of the woods...probably 50 miles from the nearest semblance of civilization when I heard it.

At first I thought it was an exhaust but than I thought, "a car all the way out here?" and I turned only to see a ferocious (wildebeest/manbearpig/Troll[the Troll not a troll]) with it's fangs bared and it looked hungry!

I froze for a moment but Sparkles, my German Shepard lept into action and scared it off into the woods. Thank god I went to that dog training at Petsmart because I don't even want to know what would have happened otherwise.

The two of us were able to make a shelter, just like the ones you see that 'man vs wild' guy build on TV and we camped out for the night.

at the crack of dawn we trekked it out, still leery of the creatures that we hoped slept in that morning. We were able to make it to a road and flag down a car, it was all in the paper of course.

Even if I didnt smoke.. I would STILL carry a lighter or matches on me for this very reason.. but still.. Agreed W OP that she should have kept her cell phone on her. it MIGHT have saved some time and efforts.THIS IS WHAT THEY MAKE CELLPHONE HOLDERS FOR!..
