Important PA bulliten

I brought the head off my Galant VR-4 to a fairly reputable machine shop in Coatesvile, PA. Spyder Custom Machining. After getting the head fuly ported, intake & exhaust manifolds port-matched, bronze valve guides, 3g lifters, ferrea valve seals... the good stuff... Upon getting my head back and re-installed, my motor was throwing a knock DTC as well as villantly shaking. Compression test reads as follows 4-162, 3-158, 2-164, 1<20psi. WTF, Maybe it is the new BC 272 cams?!? So I leaked it down and air is comming out the exhaust. (thank you Jesse RVLUTION) Tuesday I gave the owner of the shop my head and explained the problem. lastnight (thurs) got the head back, "repaired" and threw it on the car. No cams no rockers installed and still the leaking to the exhaust. So now I'm about to remove and re-install the head for a 3rd time. The only thing in my mind is that the valve seat had a run in w/ the porting bit...

SO don't go to SPYDER PREP Custom Machine and Racing Heads @ 180 Loomis Ave, Coatesville PA 19320

This is a #'s matching head to a limited production Mitsu Galant VR-4 #1012-2000

I wouldn't go knocking the shop until they refuse to correct the problem. You didn't state them giving you a hard time at all so why make this public just yet? Everyone slips up and if they are willing to correct it then they seem like a decent business.

100% agree. Id give them the chance to fix it another time. Crap happens and no one is perfect.

There are no numbers on the cylinder head of a galant vr4. If the head is scrap, just get another one and have them do it again.

i owned # 923 if i remember right. just as hanz said there are no matching number on that cylinder head. just pick up another one and have them re do it. im all the way over philly and i heard good things of spyder performance. so just have them take another look at it. im pretty sure as a repetuble buisness they will fix the problem.

with no cams or rockers installed, all the valves are closed.

as long as the shop fixes it, i wouldnt go flipping out, but you need to tell them they owe you a new head gasket because you've had to crush yours down 2x now.
