The over-all best way to measure what a car can do. I think I've read 100 times.
BTW: C6 Z06 did the 'ring under 7:50. Some impressive company I would say.

There are always variables. But usually they are professional drivers that are involved in the developement/engineering of the particular car that they are driving. It is meant to showcase the maximum performance the car is capable of on the track.
