Ebay/Paypal Issue (it has to do with cars)

Alright, I sold a set of wheels on ebay recently. The guy who won them, asked for detailed pictures before the end of the auction. I sent him detailed pictures showing curb rash on some of the wheels.

Now a few weeks later he filed a claim with paypal saying the description in my ebay auction didn't mention the curb rash and he wants me to pay to have them all fixed. However, I sent him pictures of the wheels before the end of the auction, so he knew exactly what they were.

Now paypal took all the money in dispute out of my account which adds an awesome like 9% fee. Is there anything I can do or is this dude gonna somehow **** me over?

I read that paypal always sides with the buyer. And the email was sent outside of ebay, so i'm sure he'll claim some b.s. reason why it's not legit. I'm definitely refuting the claim and will use the email as evidence.

I don't feel like dealing with this guy, so I offered to give him a refund if he ships the wheels back to me. So that'll cost him another $200.00 if he wants a refund. I doubt he'll do it.

That's the problem, I really didn't describe the exact condition of the wheels, I figured the pictures would do all the describing for me, but in his dispute he says that I never said anything in the ad so that's why I should fix the wheels for him. F that, I'd much rather have the wheels back, fix them myself and sell them for double.

even if you said something along the lines of some "minor imperfections" or anything that would indicate they are not in perfect condition, you might be able to get this guy

I know I might be able to get him, but I'd rather not take that several hundred dollar chance. I figure if the dude is willing to send them back to me, It'll cost him $200 so in the end he'd have no wheels and be out $200. Or he can realize that he's not gonna win one over on me and have me put the wheels to mint condition when I sold them for far cheaper than they're worth and specifically showed him all the damage of the wheels prior to the sale.

Your done man. Paypal always sides with the buyer. Paypal has already given the money in your account back to him, so there is no way he is going to send the wheels back to you.

Next time, make your auction as detailed as possible and make sure all correspondence is through Ebay, not a private email account. If you would have done this from the beginning, you would have stood a decent chance of winning this dispute.

Paypal put the funds on freeze and they only go to him if he ships the wheels back in 10 days. If he doesn't ship them, i get the money back. If he does ship them, he gets his money back.

so he filed a claim which requires him to return the wheels... and you're also asking him to return the wheels... so everyone is in agreement it sounds like.
paypal doesnt ALWAYS side with the buyer, it depends on what kind of proof you can provide. if the description implied that they were in good condition and the photos in the auction werent detailed enough to show otherwise, i think you're in a tight spot. i mean... sounds a little misleading even though you did send him other photos outside of the auction.

nahh, he filed a claim asking for a couple hundred dollars to have the wheels refinished. I think it's bs because i showed him that there was damage to them and told him about it, so instead of giving him the money, i offered a full refund if he returns the wheels. I figure A. if he doesn't return them, fine and we're right back where we ended or B. if he does return them, he loses the money to ship them back and I'll just sell them to someone else.

paypal does not always side with the buyer, ive had claims from jerkoffs like this guy and came out on top 3/4 times.....did you state anywhere in the auction that whells were sold as is or did you offer on the auction the ability to return them either one of them will bring you out on top right off the bat bc the guy is suppose to file complaints with ebay first, and then proceed with paypal.....even paypal says to sort it out between yourselves before getting them involved

Let me tell you something about Paypal. Excuse me if its very blunt.

Paypal sucks the biggest donkey dick every known to man. We use it here and there but we got scammed out of $1700 recently on a fake cc paypal account from Florida. If you dont ship the parts paypal holds your money. If you ship the parts and put a tracking # and the guy does some sort of complaint they hold your money. If the account was made using information from somebody else and they do a cc chargeback paypal takes the money.

There is no winning with paypal and until Seller and Buyers start using Debit Cards and Credit Cards in which we are all equally protected there bull**** will continue. Paypal makes INTEREST off the money held in accounts that have reserves, limitations etc. For every day paypal holds money, they make in excess of 7+% interest since paypal is nothing more than a bank.

Stay away from paypal.
