I used to be into trance...and then I discovered Hard House!

BTW - I like house better because its songs you know in a way that you have never heard...It has such a great beat through every song that is always good....Here is one of my favorites because it's so off the wall (def not hard house tho)

Sounds almost like the buzz Benny Benassi uses. This song you posted reminds me of Benassi's remix of California dreaming

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_lhDJ9xBQA

I'm not gonna lie, his buzz was crazy when it came out in Satisfaction.. He made like every song in his album using that same sound and they were all hot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7T49...eature=related

Benny Benassi = one my of fav dj's of all time

Right now, I like Daft Punk's mashup of their songs Too Long and Steam machine

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AuXg...eature=related

their shows are insane.

Then there are:

Fukkk offf - I'm a freak
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULNKWB7hn28

D.I.M - Is You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3eCM...eature=related

Benny benassi - love and motion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FQfSMlloJ4

Benny Benassi vs Public Enemy - Bring the noise
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJFgrdxue2Q

Benny Benassi - I am not Drunk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn6gKM9zy78

Benny Benassi feat. Channing - Peanuts Enhancer (Mobbing Remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gFHnrauqhA

David Guetta - Ain't That Enough (Laidback Luke Bootleg)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4XfeOEetXA

I have so many more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head for now..

Although I've never been into trance/ techno I have been playing with turntables since I was 15 and I take a liking to the most complex electronic music with tons of bass and assasin like precision. Techno/ trance is by far the EASIEST to mix so I really didn't play with that. I used to be all about different kinds of drum and bass and I have a huge vinyl collection..About 2 years ago a new style caught my ear and although the good stuff is still few and far between, I love the slowed down tempo and heavy basslines, not to mention the sound quality available online..Although this sample sounds like ass you can kind off get a feel for what the beats consist of.
heres one youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcMBOxGZUhs the drop at 2:10 is DEAD on but the sound quality kills it.
I have much better stuff on my computer though Perfect kind of music to liten to while driving with a NICE system.

this one has an M3 and a subaru imprezza in the video, pretty cool but looks like it's from a movie.

It's much harder to find good trance tracks these days. 1996-2000 was probably the best span, but I think it was more because it wasn't as mainstream and the market wasn't flooded with repetitive garbage like it can be now. That said there are some good tracks every year.

As far as 2008 well:
* Nic Chagall - What You Need (Hard Dub)
* Stoneface & Terminal - Pictures (Club Radio Mix)
* Oceanlab - Miracle (Martin Roth Dub)
* Woody Van Eyden - Turn It On (Sean Tyas Remix)

Those are a few of my favorites among the many tracks I've bought this year. Now I need to stop being lazy and do an August mix.

Yes. Agreed, the trance a few years ago was much more quality! And Benassi is one of the best DJ's in modern times!

easy to mix... hard to master. most people don't know what mixing is, or what it sounds like... but then you get that crowd that knows, and then it's not easy anymore.

daft punk are easily the best out there right now for live shows. Filo and Peri, Underworld....tiesto.... its no use naming who i think the best are. been in the scene long enough to just enjoy it.

DJ Tatana is a sweetheart. I met her at Bang in Philly in 05 or 06... totally awesome to talk to.

I like to start my night with house, move into the trance room to dance, and then move back to house before going home. Its been a really long time since i've been out to a club.

Well good luck trying. The last of the real house/trance/techno clubs in Philly died with Emerald. I still remember seeing Tiesto there...Best show I have ever been to!

yeah, thats the sad thing about our area.

but there is a tiny underground scene in Philly that I am finding out about... and NY always has somewhere to go. Depends on who you want to see. Next on my list is Daft Punk.... after PVD, Tiesto, The Crystal Method, Filo and Peri... I just need them to top all of them to give me that push to get back in.

otherwise, I suppose a west coast trip or a trip to europe would be in order haha... dont know where i'd get the money for that though

haha, oh man. i agree that it does usually go off, but... i'd like to forget some of the nights there waaaaaaaay back....haha... lets just say I was dumb back then and was into stupid things when I had to try to make the club fun instead of realizing that its about the music.

easy to mix and easy to master. The proper mixing technique is clean and simple, not some dragged out thing where you do a little dance every time you cut the highs lol. Getting crazy with effects the the only thing that could possible make it anymore difficult since that what the guys do nowadays. I look at theese guys playing in clubs and I tjust think to myself what a horrible job they are doing only because they are trying to get too fancy..I am old school, but I DO like the Rane serato. I still only have 1210's ,1200 series 2 channel DMC mixer, orafon night clubs..Anyone here actually mix sets?
