Can I put music on my iPod without it in my library?

I really like the Auto-Sync feature on my new iPod for loading music and podcasts onto my iPod, but the problem is that where I am, I only have my laptop with me for the summer, and the Hard Drive on the iPod is bigger than the HDD on my laptop.

How can I continue to put music onto my iPod without having it in my computer's library.

I guess I cannot use iTunes to do this, but what does everyone else use?

Most of the 3rd party Ipod apps will do this. I think the one I used before was called Sharepod? It lets you upload or down music to and from the ipod without having to synch it to a library.

x10. This should be the first thing you do when you get an ipod. Plus you can use it as an external hd once this is done too.

So once I make it manual, do I need to use another program to load my music like Floola, or can I still use iTunes. I kinda like iTunes because of the Cover Flow and the ability to see all of my covers to make sure its all sorted right.

Just use the manual setting, but as always, be sure you eject. it'll keep the manual setting on any computer you plug into as well.

I am not talking about illegal music. I am talking about all of my CDs and DVDs that I want to rip and put onto my iPod, but do not wish to keep on my PC.

Yup. I was just unsure of how to do that. But now I know that if I use manual mode to sync my music, I will be able to delete them from my library, but keep them on my iPod.

Do what I did...
Buy external drive. Use TWEAKUI (from microsofts site) to change the location of you "mymusic" folder to the new external. Boom. Lots o storage for your itunes and you dont hvae to delete anything.
