Miata Newb here from Central NJ

Hello everyone. I heard of this site from a post about an upcoming meet in West Chester PA by cardriverx at miataturbo.net. Pretty nice site, I'll try to take a few days and read few a bunch of the threads before posting anything stupid.

I currently live in Ewing NJ and work in Lakewood but grew up in Toms River and did that whole Rt 37 thing for a while in HS...damn 10 years ago. I had a fairly quick GN back then, now I'm more into smaller cars 4cyls. My dad owns a small speed shop that just moved from Howell to Toms River a month ago, I don't work there officially but I help out with fabrication work. I've had my '92 Miata for a while and have been thru 5 different turbo setups for it haha, about every 1-2 yrs I build a new setup and try something different.

The current setup is two GT1548's in parallel. Yes, I'd be the first to point out that it's not as ideal as a properly sized single turbo, but it was done more an exercise in fabrication and to try something different than anything else. It's been recently dyno'ed at 271rwhp/230tq (dynojet) but I've done a few more things since, hoping to redyno it sometime this summer. Internally stock 1.8 from a '94, torsen 3.90 rear, 13psi, AEM EMS, eBay tube-fin 18x12x3 core I/C, my own intake manifold, obviously my own TT manifold and full 3" exhaust. Etc. I don't claim it to be particularly quick but it's a very nice street car.

I hope to meet some of you all eventually.

But I am sure the exhaust is angled for back pressure to have a faster spool-up for larger size turbochargers @ low RPM

I was planning on it when it was the 29th, but the 22nd is a big Mob BBQ. I'll try to hit up one of the Wed. night Kat parking deck meetups or the stoney brook cruise-in's.

rs25.com: No. Sounds like a subie forum? I also have a '97 OBS as my daily driver, put a GT2560R on the original EJ22. I used all spare parts I had lying around (except for the OEM WRX I/C and ebay chinese BOV), so some of the silicone couplers don't match. Instaspool and very torquey, but runs out of steam around 4500. Cheap to maintain and I can fit lots of crap in it.

homemadeturbo.com: no, but I've been there before. My flanges come from a guy who sells over there. I think pics from my first TT setup ended up there; they were smaller turbos which spooled very quickly but I could only get 240rwhp @14psi with very high IAT's. I'm at 270 at 13psi now, hoping for ~290 at 14psi and more tuning. IAT's about 15deg above ambient on the dyno It's a little more laggy that I'd like for the street but I think I'll leave it alone for a little while, maybe paint it or something. Stock '94 1.8 internally.
