Fast Steering Columns! $524.99 + Core! Subaru and 240sx

Year after year, the Evo beats the WRX/STi in most magazine reviews. They attribute the win in this close competition to the Subaru's lack of "aggressive feel", and often go on to explain that the 16.5 or 15.0 to 1 steering ratio is the reason. The problem is that replacing the stock rack costs between $1500 and $2500.

This is an economical, effective way to experience aggressive steering response in your Subaru or 240sx.

Drift columns are also available for the S13 and S14 240SX. Instead of a boxing match with your steering wheel, use precise and accurate inputs to take advantage of all that angle!

Pricing is as follows:

Column applications that are available now:
Subaru Impreza GC 1993-2001 $524.99 + Core Charge
Subaru Impreza GD 2002-2004 $524.99 + Core Charge
Subaru Impreza STI 2004-2006 $524.99 + Core Charge
Nissan 240 SX S13 & S14 $724.99 + Core Charge
Mazda RX7 3rd generation $599.99 + Core Charge

Core charge is a refundable $200 if you do not have a column to exchange.

Tech info:

Each column increases steering input by 1.5:1

WRX stock= 16.5:1
WRX quick= 12.375:1

STi stock= 15:1
STi quick= 11.25:1

07 STi stock= 14.5:1
07 STi quick= 10.875:1

Holy crap. I have honestly always wondered if they made quick non-JDM steering racks for GC's. I am so getting this when my car gets done... Woot! Have you posted this on RS25? I bet ALOT of people will want these over there.

Edit: This would bump you up to another class, wouldn't it? I mean for normal WRX's and STi's... my car is already in much different class then the stock one... haha.

I am already stuck in Street Modified because I modified the stock ECU (reflash). So there is no limit to what I can do.

Yea, thats what I figured. I saw a chart somewhere that explained what mods caused you to be bumped up, and what mods didn't. I think it was for another state though.

off topic, but if you had a cat in your exhaust and ran the stock boost maps you would not get bumped up... you can have a full tune otherwise just not modified boost and still not get bumped all the way up to SM

While I can't say for sure if a quick column bumps you up to SM, I can say a few things about the ratios on the street.

I've heard this topic discussed many times on various forums, and there is a strong theme that recurs. People who have not yet purchased or driven with the quick ratio are hesitant, and then one of the people who already has it steps in and says something to the effect of "you guys are worried over nothing". Steering with your knee while you text in one hand and eat with the other was never a good idea anyway.

That being said, we already know that the WRX 12.375 is not too aggressive because it is only .625:1 below a stock Evo. So, worst case senario here is to swap a WRX rack into your STi if you find it too much to handle.

I'll have a very solid driving impressions writeup asap.

If you're going to the Sonic meet, I would love to take a quick ride in your car to feel the difference if you don't mind?

Wait so what are we getting? New gearing in the rack? I'm just a bit confused as to what is going to reduce the steering ratio.

My quick column car is still being built. Believe me, if I could bring it I would absolutely let you feel the difference. The closest thing we have right now is an Evo, haha.

I'll have pics up soon. What you are getting is a complete steering COLUMN with a large gear which increases the input/output ratio. The rack is untouched.

We hit quite a snag in our project car build (to the tune of a missing engine and drivetrain), and therefore have not gotten to the rack just yet.

Of course, I can always get one for you. They have been reviewed positively many times on Nasioc etc., and I have no reservations about selling them.
