I am gonna take the state police test. If I pass the test and everything else, I am gonna put school on hold until after the State Police Academy, and go to school part-time.

We have a few stateys in my unit. They seem to like it and with all the road construction going on, you can make a killing in overtime.
Though the academy is tough. I dont think I could deal with people yelling at me and smoke sessions again.

smoke sessions? The academy is a one time thing, I'll get through it, just gotta tell myself, this is it, after this i'm done.

Smoke session is a military/police academy term for the cadre making you do push ups and PT until "you're smoked". Usually starts when your class screws up or the cadre is bored.

Right, a positive attitude and knowing it will lead to a good career will get you through.

My dad was a state police officer. Ever since I was little I wanted to be a State trooper. I hope I pass everything and get a shot at the academy. If I get that shot at the academy, I will not fail.

I have alot of respect for Troopers. They always give me professional courtesy and never give me tickets. Its hit or miss with local city/township cops though.
Whats the entry requirements these days? A certain amount of college credits and/or experience?

you need at least an associates degree I believe. Or 60 credits I think.

I know for colonial regional you don't need any degree

you do not need a degree in criminal justice to become a state police officer, why do you think they have the academy? That is what trains you. A lot of people think you need a criminal justice degree to go into law enforcement, but you do not.

A degree will help if you are looking into a small, high paying department. Though most prefer LE experience over a degree.

there is a testing center in Bethlehem. Apply online.

Hey, good luck to you man. I wish I had the nuts to go the the state academy, but I only went as far as the municipal academy, haha. Let me know if you make it in, its always nice the have a networking connection in the state
