Virginia speeding fine has just increased

I'm watching tv....and they say the fines are now 20 and over is $1050? not sure if that's a joke or not.

It was already high to begin with, and well the Virginia state police definitely know how to make their quota... i went to Tennessee for a little vacation and going through Virginia was all cops... and you might say, oh thats every large highway.... no i mean a cop every 15-20 minutes for my 5 hour trip through Virginia, most of the time, having someone pulled over, sometimes sitting in the middle of the highway 3 in a group. No I'm not exaggerating, it was completely ridiculous.

no... they need to raise the speed limits. They were designed for cars over 50 years ago. Who drives 55 anyway. **** that. I was following a state trooper today doing 85 MPH on 95... Speeding isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Its the asshole in and out of lanes and people tailgating thats dangerous. Now tell me im wrong.

were u going down 81...now in VA they have a cop pretty much every few miles on 81 and 95...they are really starting to crack down on speeding meaning if u are like 7 over u are most likely pulled over

speed limit is 65 pretty much all the way thru VA on 81...i know on some other highways in VA its 70. Speeding is really considered a crime in VA. And if u are over 80 its a wreckless which has jail time involved but not usually given...once u get over 90 ur ass goes to jail

it doesnt matter if its an asshole stuntin on the highway something could go wrong wit your car(flat) or someone could not be payin attention for a split second and cause an accident(even tho its unlikely...still possible)...its hard to stop quick when ur going that fast and ur reaction time isnt great

The fine is only for VA residents and I know before this it was like 1500 over 3 years.

It's beyond rediculous in VA. If you are a car enthusiast it is not the state for you.
I recieved 2 tickets in 4 months down there. One I deserved the other I didn't.
Bot experiences are they same, they don't ask you anything, they don't talk to you, there is no explanation.
I cannot get out of VA fast enough.
If you think the fines are bad you should see the taxes.
There is a personal property tax on vehicles. Another words, if I want to become a resident of VA I'd have to surrender my PA liscence and register my cars in VA. Pass their inspections and recieve my tags. Then once a year I would have to pay for the privledge of owning a car based on a value determined by the state.
Then I have to get a local "neighborhood" tag for the district I live in.

I found a loophole that allows me to keep my PA residency because to the military and I travel to PA all the time, but it's bull****.

I got pulled over at 11pm on a thursday night on 81 for a loud exhaust. It was Valentines day and I was going to see my girlfriend. The dickhead didn't talk to me at all. The only thing he said is that my exhaust is too loud and I could fight it if I wanted too but he knew I was a kid from PA and could never afford to drive back to VA on a weekday to fight it.

**** the Woodstock "Police" department!

I drove down 81 to get to Asheville, NC over spring break.

Only saw 3 troopers on the way down. One sitting in the middle, another sitting off to the right about a half mile up. I forget where I saw the third. This was around roughly 3AM too.

Coming home, I saw A LOT more.

I did 70 the whole way home, especially after getting pulled over in Tennessee that morning.

On the plus side, I got 35 MPG.

I'm screwed because of my job. Because I work for the "different govt. agencies" I have to live in MD and or VA.
MD is easier on cars, but the state is UBER liberal. So ammenities (like electricity) are out of control. It's almost impossible to get a permit to carry. The racing scene in MD is the best I've seen though, bar none.

VA is conservative (expect for the town I live in) but they are rediculous on car enthusiasts.
I'm a big domestic fan (obviously) but I like all cars. I've seen cops wave me threw when they've given tickets to my import buddies. I don't know if it was I'm older or what.

THANK GOD you can keep you PA residency in both states as long as you "visit" PA a certain amount of time out of the year.
I don't know what I'm gonna do when I start working at the Pentagon.
