Fast DD or Project Car

So I'm getting done with school soon and I'm starting to make decent money. I'm pondering to myself what should I do for my go fast kicks.

My options

Dump about $5000 into my SAAB
- GT3071R
- forged pistons
- 7000 rpm rev limiter
- LSD
- round about 400 BHP and 400 lb-ft

Keep the SAAB stock and get a Project car
- RWD
- 4-6 cylinder turbo or NA V8

Now I know a project car is a much better idea, but there's a part of me that loves saabs and wants to tune the crap out of it. So would you tune up your DD or get a dedicated project car?

if you're just getting out of school you might want to hold onto that money...

but if you can't, mod the saab

Saab heads flow really well. Stock cams are only 240 duration with 8.3 mm of lift, and to raise the rev limiter I only need valve springs. Mind you most of it is the fact that I'm planning on doing a lot myself and I'm not doing it in stages, just right to 400 in one shot.

I know this is the logical decision, but what's the fun in that?

Either way, I'd pick up a beater.

Take it from someone who is making a lot of power on a car that really shouldn't be.

Take note of what everyone else is saying about getting a second car. It will make your life much easier in so many respects. Taking your time to do the job right instead of quickly throwing the car back together for work Monday morning will give you much better results.

Yeah, I know. Believe me this is going to either "stock DD saab and really fast weekend car" or "NA, old saab backup car and fast SAAB DD."

whys it gotta be an NA V8? Foxbodies are real cheap....and fuel injected...and turbo-able. DO IT! Remote mount twin turbo set up, 400+ to the wheels. Throw some suspension on their and you can do just about anything with it. If you really wanted to be different, build a turbo track fox and drift it or something weird like that lol. I never see fox's doing anything but goin real fast real straight.
