using someone elses plate!

ok so i bought this car a couple weeks ago and i was towing it home, and my buddies trailer got a flat, so we took off and put it on the street, while hes going to try and fix the tire at our shop i try and get it to start so i can drive it back on the trailer when he comes back so i dont have to push it back up because by this time its 3am. a cop pulls up we tell her wat happened and say we are going to the store to get a battery, we put a plate on it from my buddies car so it wont get towed or ticketed,just till we get back. we get back start working on it she comes back said she ran the plate blah blah blah takes me and my buddies info says im going to get a ticket for putting it on the car, i explained the whole situation and she says fight it in court she said ill be getting a ticket from harrisburg in the mail. wats up with that i tried to do the right thing and not drive it and still got a ticket. wat should i do.

Well that didn't work! what you should have done was put a note on the car with your info and a phone number. I would take it to court and talk to the prosecutor see what they can do.
