Opinion On Spring/Summer/Fall Tires

my gf is buying me a set of summer tires for xmas... i know shes the best! I was thinking bout 225/50R16 falken azenis rt-615's to wrap around my goldies just purchased... i finally got my goldies... but ne way, wonderin if ne one has used these tires and had opinions on them. I know theyre not gonna last me 30k miles, im looking for a tire that will give me good grip, but last more than 5k miles. I will only be runnin these in the spring-fall. I've got blizzaks for winter. I will be doing daily driving with occasional winding roads, and drag strip hopefully atleast every other weekend in the summer. Theyre pretty cheap, only about $500 shipped from discount tire direct. Plus my gf's dad is a mechanic so he gets a discount at his work. I was told the azenis are wider than most 225 tires, so i might go with 215/45R. any info would be great, thanx in advance.

For $500 shipped I think its a good deal for them. I've heard good things about the 615's, but I don't have any experience with them. I have the Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R's for my rears I love them so far. I think they are better then the FM901's that I had before.

I think I'm going to be replacing my fronts also, but I'm looking at either some Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1's or the RE-01R's. There a little bit more than the 615's but it might be something just to look at.

Ill prob go with the rt-615's in 215/45, they're actually even cheaper @ only $450. I can easily live with dumping $450 on tires every spring if they wear out after a spring/summer/fall session.

The rt-615's are noisy and they get worse as they wear. Your car will probably tramline worse with them. The sidewalls are very stiff. They do stick very well though, as long as there isn't any water. They are overkill for the street. They work well for auto-x and my set handled the one track day I did with them fine. My set lasted a good long time, however I seem to always get a lot of milage out of any tires I have.

I never drag raced, so I can't tell you how they handle that.

The 615's are great tires...but like ^^^ said they are lil noisy and have super hard sidewalls so they can ride rough and track the grooves alil more then most tires. And they do good in the rain when they are new but its weird...its like they hit this point where they are good in the rain...BAM..they suck...its weird but once the tread life gets down u will hydroplane more then normal.

Also i can match that price that discount tire is offering if you would much rather deal with a local shop..and i can get them next day with no extra shipping charges...let me know 215 855 5565 thanx Vince
