your appreciated

do people ever come up to u and thank you for being a cop or something along those lines??? I would say that you guys are def underappreciated. The only time i hate you guys are when you pull me over haha. Even then most of you are cool as long as i am not being an ass. I have to ask though.... when u see people going down the highway at like 70, do you get all up-idy and fly after them. I mean 70 isn't that fast (atleast not to me). When im on the highway i cannot stand to do 55. It feels like ur crawling. Its just wierd that cops over here in philly go like 75 down the highway but they expect people to do 55.

Thanks for your appreciation... After 9-11-01 I believe a lot of Americans came to understand the sacrifice made by Firefighters, Police, EMS, and Military. Some of the shine is off the apple after 6+ years but from time to time I still go to pay for my coffee and find someone has paid the tab or people will stop me and just say thanks for what you do. It feels good to be appreciated and makes what is some times a thankless job a little better.
This forum is mostly about traffic issues but most of what police work is, is calls for service and maintenance of law and order. Traffic is mostly secondary unless the officer is assigned to a traffic unit.
To answer your other question... since 65 mph is the posted limit on interstate highways in NJ driving 70 mph is not normally a stop depending on conditions.
I never get "up-idy".
Fast driving on a Highway rarely gets you stopped its tailgating, passing on the right and lane changing that gets you stopped most of the time since speeders tend to do that stuff more often you get to pop them for that too.
