Won the 2007 WDCR STX Season! Video included.

Video from Event #7: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...deoID=20087369

Competed in the last WDCR event yesterday and sealed the season championship for STX! Although, I didn't exactly finish the way I had hoped.

I went into the final event with an 8 point lead and knowing I needed to come in at least 5th place to lock it down. I had finished no worse than 2nd all season, so shouldn't be a big deal. But I didn't account for how the car would handle after adjusting the camber from -2.0 to -2.4. I had one even with another region to test it out, but the grip level and speed availabe on that lot didn't give me a good indication of what it would do, so I had to use my first couple of runs to figure it out. Not to mention it was a 70+ second course, the longest I've ever run with the least amount of time to walk the course, so I would be figuring out the course on that first run as well.

So first run I try to figure out where the heck I'm going, while also trying to push the car and see how it felt. About halfway through I found out that it really liked to oversteer...especially based on how I was driving it. I would have to adjust. Also dropped rear pressures down a bit to try and keep it in check. Managed to do a nice 180 while going to fast into some off camber stuff (check video).

Second run ended up being my fastest clean run of the day, got a better idea of how the car was running and figuring out the course. My third run I managed to get faster in a lot of sections, but slower in others. I was slowing down WAY too much for the turn arounds and not carrying enough speed.

So now down to the final run. Clutch time...and I choked. I finally had the car and the course figured out, and killed it through the first 3/4 of the course. Watching the video of that run, I was extremely faster than my other runs...definitely fast enough to win it or come d@mn close. But coming into a turn around right after the long slalom, I went in too hot, pushed out, and threw me way off line and couldn't make it back to the next gate and nailed the inside cone.

Not the way I wanted to finish the season, but I'll take it. Finished overall with a 5 point lead over the guy in second. Currently have 4 more events left this season with other regions/groups, but I can focus on just having fun now...although I'm looking to win the Autocrosser's Inc. STX championship as well.

Thanks guys! Next season is as follows.

Suspension: Replace the Tein Basics (6k front/rear springs) with a Koni/Ground Control setup running 450lbs front and 550lbs rear.

Wheels/Tires: Replace 235/40/17 Azenis 615's on 17x7.5 et45 Rota Subzeros with 245/40/17 Bridgestone RE-01R's on 17x8 et45 Rota Revs.

And most importantly, tweak the nut behind the wheel. There's still a ton of work to do there. I plan on running D.C. and A.I. again next year, along with at least a couple of National Tours. I'm hoping to make it out to Nationals, so I definitely need the practice. Oh yeah, and try and get more sponsorship to help me out on some of those expenses next year.

But more importantly, what are your plans Jeff? I spoke with John yesterday and he said you sold him the MR2.

Thanks Adrian...you should have made it down.

I hear rumors of an nicely prepped STX Celica GTS coming to D.C. next year. I hope so, should be a good comparison.

Yep, no more E-stock for me. I've had an ESP subaru co-drive for a couple events, which has been a blast. It's like my old subaru but w/ more power and more grip. I'm not ready to buy another car, but hopefully I'll be able to find a co-drive for next season.

Definitely good luck finding a co-drive. I need to take a WRX out on course at some point, see what all the hype is about.
