Cleaning your mass air sensor, how often?

So I just picked up some CRC mass air cleaner and cleaned the crap out of my MAF. I haven't cleaned mine in, well, never actually. I have almost 120K on my car, and obviously it was filthy.

Wow, huge improvement in idle, and much smoother throughout the entire rev range. Pulls harder too, actually a very noticeable improvement.

How often are you supposed to do this? Recommendations?

BTW, I chose CRC Mass Air Cleaner because there was a little blurb on the front of the can that said something along the lines of "4-10" dyno proven horsepower guaranteed. R/T Tuning in Lansdale was listed on the back as the shop that tested it.

So, R/T Tuning, what kind of car did you test this stuff on?

my buddy does his every 6 months just to be safe, and he says it works great...at first i thought this was you looking for a product judging by the thread title, and I was going to post "crc" but i see you got it. If it isnt a hassle to get to on subies, id check it every or every other oil change, if it really did what you say it did for your car id say its well worth the time and effort to keep it clean

While cleaning your MAF is a good idea for maintenance, you will not gain 4-10 hp from it. The test would be based on taking a DIRTY MAF, dynoing the car, then cleaning it and re-dynoing it. So, you may recover lost hp by cleaning it, but you certainly aren't gaining anything new. Not to mention that simple electronics cleaner is the exact same thing, just in a less flashy can.

How often depends entirely on how well your filtration is working. I for example just did the same thing, my car is 6 years old and has 102K on it. It made absolutely no difference for me, didn't even fix my weird cold start problems that I've been having.

This was understood. However, "found" missing horsepower on a higher mileage car is as good as "new" horsepower on a brand new car.
