I got this when it first came out: (Panasonic PV-DV953)
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content...der_review.htm This thing takes great outdoor shots. It was probably never really meant to be used indoors because of the size of its CCDs and its zoom lens. Although I did buy a 55w lamp with external 12v power supply. I would still need to buy a wide angle lens too but after using the 55w lamp once I realized it's probably only useful for a wedding or something similar. Because no one likes having any kind of light, let alone a bright beam of light and a camcorder aimed at them inside cramped spaces, anyway. So indoors I prefer my still camera. I would love to get a canon XL-2. But those things are huge. And the bulkier and more complicated some thing is the less I tend to want to even use it. |

When you don't have $2k to spend then you have to decide what is most important. I got the PV-DV953 because this is how I ranked the following:
1. Image quality 2. Size 3. Features 4. Low light ability |

Canon GL2.
this is my daily cam. i've dragged this camera accross the country, over to Italy, and into the forrests of the NE for many club rallies. great camera. equally suited for shooting a wedding as it is for just filming you and your buddies goofing off. ![]() Sony DSR-307/570 this is what i use at work. :P of course, this camera costs more than mine (and many people's) cars. ![]() go with the Canon ZR300, it's a great cam. just don't drop it in a pile of sand at the beach. well, i went with the zr300.
i got the zr 300. (1), b/c im a canon guy. (2) after the rebate plus the sale price, it was almost priced close to the zr200.(3) little more features,(better zoom, wide angle lense attachment, etc.) (4) it was in my price range. im happy with the purchase. the only hiccup(sp?) was that i had to buy a firewire and a firewire card to hook up to my notebook, not to bad. thanks for the info and suggestion! p.s. you people have some nice cameras on here |

i think that was actually a hoax. dont hold me to this but my recollection was that you took a sony with nightshot and put an infrared filter on it, something along those lines, but i doubt it worked that great
