I shouldve done this a long time ago:
12K of those miles were under 7 psi of boost. it started slipping soon after boost but i was holding off as long as possible on replacing it....finally after barely being able to boost on the highway anymore i started a clutch search. i found a good deal on a Spec Stage III from a probetalk member and as it's in the mail i started my tear down. i started last night and got this far: All Turbo pieces removed beacuse they were in the way. this took two hours by myself, taking my time ![]() im extremeeeeely organized when i work on my cars, i just cant do it if im not ![]() ![]() Today, after two more hours of work the trans was out...and here's what 12K miles of boost does to a stock clutch ![]() thats the original 183K mile flywheel. ![]() Trans out, clutch out. still insanely organized ![]() ![]() hopefully it all goes back together smoothly next week when some parts get here and i get to the track on friday and better that 13.5...(the clutch slipped badly on the run) enjoy. -Jason

Looks good man. I need to work more on the organization thing... my parents garage is a mess. I plan on working on straightening it this weekend when I get home.
How do the differentials hold up in the Probes? I know in the ZX2s, our diff goes with basically any hard driving... Good choice on the Spec clutch. There are few ZX2 guys that run the stage 3, but the turbo guys are starting to have problems with the stage 2 slipping so they are upgrading. Pic of the parents garage: ZX2 front hanging on the wall on the right, 240 in the middle, and parts to both cars all over. http://www.endlessmotorsports.net/Ga...arage/pano.jpg Their driveway as of last weekend is my avatar... I got the 240 out before I came back up to school. Last edited by yellow2000S/R; 08-30-2007 at 08:21 PM. |

actually i dont even see this clutch swap as a major operation, just maintenence on a turbo car...
ive torn this car down so many times that i ran into no issues, no mysterious bolts still in, no trans stock on and needign pryed off...nothing, and its a baby trans i slid it off and then let it down from the top side on my own...picked it up with one hand and moved it to the side ![]() as for the spec clutch... probe owners only have good things to say, ill be putting down about 300 to the wheels once i get things tuned a bit better, i think it can handle that..
