for sale ads

I've been noticing a lot lately that a lot of people have been signing up just to post up their for sale ads whether it be car parts, cameras, cars...Every other forum that i am on makes you either have a certain amount of posts before you can post up a for sale ad or you have to get permission from a moderator beforehand. Why isn't that happening here, eventually someone is going to get scammed b/c of someone joining>posting a forsale ad>then getting over on someone through paypal or something

^ i disagree... why would you have to pay to sell items on the internet in the tristatearea? the for sale is fine how it is i have bought and sold items on it with no problems (because most people on the for sale forum mean business, and arent here to dik you over), and if i had to pay to sell an item i wouldn't sell it on TST... stupid idea

You shouldn't have to pay people, but I think maybe a posting minimum is a good idea. First time posters who try to sell things always smells fishy.

Caveat Emptor, though.

What is posted onthe ZX2 boards...

"When selling/buying items on the boards, please take caution and remember that we are NOT responsible for any transactions between forum members.

Following these simple steps will help to ensure that you have a pleasurable and trouble-free buying/selling experience here.

-You MUST name a REAL price for you items. There will be no 1000 dollars for all items listed in order to have a best offer war(aka eBay). We have a separate forum for eBay listings.
-This is not eBay. There will be no price bidding. If you have an offer for an OBO respect the person's thread and PM it to them.
-State your preferred method of contact, whether it be a Private Message or an email address.
-Post a picture of the item if you are able to. This gives people a good indication of the condition of the item.
-Post your references, whether they are in the form of eBay feedback or other means of feedback through the forums or other sites
-Remember to check your PM's and/or email frequently when you have a post in this portion of the forum. People trying to complete a business transaction like to be kept in the loop.
-Use common sense and judgment when dealing with people that are not well known or known to be trolls/bad traders. Be aware of who they are and try to get contact information such as a phone number
-DO NOT thread crap. If you don't have anything to sell, or plan to buy something, do not post.
-It is a good idea to mark what items are sold in your original post to avoid confusion. You can mark them in several ways. My personal favorite is colors to indicate pending and sold items.

In addition to this, all other forum rules also apply. We also have post restrictions which can be found below...

In light of unmentionable events, we as the staff were brought to make up a new membergroup which is post count based. If you have 0-30 posts you are in this membergroup and you cannot read or send PMs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next, why you cannot post:
Due to even more recent events, we as the moderation team, and staff, as a whole decided, in order to keep scammers to a minimum, we would restrict posting in the for sale sections.
This membergroup is from 0-75

Permission run down:

For sale, Misc for sale, Vehicles, Group buys- You cannot post new topics. However you can reply to topic in order to buy the item mentioned. If you post in someone else's topic to undercut them by offering your parts you will be banned. Not only is it against the rules it is rude as well.
Wanted, Misc wanted- You can post new topics for parts you want but you cannot reply to other people's topics to offer your part.

Understand if you come into this forum and start resurrecting dead posts or just start posting useless info just to get to be able to sell things you will be reset to 0 posts and possibly temp banned for doing so. If you are only here to sell we really don't need you. If you are a company and would like to sell on this site please contact me, CJW, about becoming a site sponser or becoming an approved seller.

To all other members.
If you get a PM from membergroup "Newb" offering you his part from one of your wanted ads. It is your responsibility to look into his references. It is your responsibility to make sure the sale goes through correctly. If you buy from them without looking into anything it is pretty much your fault. It is a good practice to check out the person you are buying from anyway, let alone from someone that is unable to post items for sale. Ask for ebay references and other forums and this one. Anything is good.

You may ask yourself 'Well what about local boards?' Easy, We don't care. Again, it is your responsibility. If you are buying local meet up with the guy and only give them the money when you get the product. I will not restrict anything in the local forums because many people start out there. "

i'm just saying, i don't think noobs should be allowed to post, they should at least make you get up to sayyy 50 posts before you can post in the classifieds, thats how it is on dsmtuners.com

this is tristatetuners...not s2ktuners, or dsmtuners. While I understand your concern, we have rarely had any problems with scammers. Ontop of that, the few we did encounter were long time members who just turned out bad. So why put the blame on new people? We have guidelines for the classifieds that can be read in the classifieds forum. Your best bet is to use your better judgement when making online transactions....get names, numbers, etc etc. And back check things.
