i hate ups

I am waiting on two packages which were supposed to be delivered today. One containing a new flywheel, the other a pressure plate. One of the packages needs to be signed for. I recieved an attempt notice yesterday saying that they came and I wasn't home to sign, and that they'ld be back between 2 and 5 pm today.

At 8am I wake up. Shower. Breakfast. Walk the dog. And I proceed to sit on the front porch next to the door, enjoying my day off while it's still sunny, not too warm and alittle breezy. At 2:15 a UPS truck drives by, doesn't stop. It turns around and drives the other way.

5 minutes later I get a tracking message from UPS saying that attempt two was made, and no one was available to sign. I call to see when they came, since I have been next to the front door (subsequently this is next to the doorbell, and facing the street) since noon.

The first woman I speak too is very kind, and puts me through to the local office. The woman here, however tells me that their driver is very competent, and that I wasn't home at that time. Upon my confronting that claim she tells me that her driver wouldn't say he attempted delivery if he hadn't, and then picks up an enormous attitude saying that I have no right to call about this. The driver knows the area and couldn't have made a mistake delivering to the wrong house. She HANGS UP when I tell her that I am OK with the mistake so long as the parts arrive TODAY since I have a tow lined up to take the car to the shop, and a time slot lined up so as to get the car back early tomorrow.

She tells me that my doorbell must be broken, or that I was not where I said I was, and then proceeds to hang up the phone on me.

In summary.
1) I have been on my FRONT PORCH. My porch is the front door/main entrance. Entrance 2 is the garage which is directly below where I am sitting.
2) I started sitting here at noon
3) While I was here, the driver says he rang the door bell (which I am next to), no one answered (i am still next to the door outside) and left.
4) This must have happened in an alternate universe since I am sitting next to the door, and no UPS carrier has gotten out of a truck at this address

After the first attempt you should have left a note on your door, they would have left it.

Kinda hard to leave a note for someone who doesn't show up.

Well apparently when you were showering or eating breakfast you didn't hear them at the door or they didn't stop by. Either way I'd have left a note on the door when I woke up

Why not schedule a pick up and go pick it up from the UPS facility? I realize they should have left the packages but considering you are short on time, this would be the best option.

The driver says he came at 2:00
my shower was done by 8:30
I was in my living room (directly inside of the front door from 10-11:45)
from 11:45-currently I am next to the main entrance, in sight of the other entrance (it is in front of me, directly below where I sit)
UPS truck drives down my road, turns around doesnt stop.
I am still sitting onmy porch next to the door when I am notified that an attempt was made

Hard to scheduele a pickup when I need a tow truck to get my car from my house to the shop, and the bus isn't an option to the ups facility in question.

You try calling the local shop? They can radio the driver and find out what's going on.

Yep, they gave me a massive amount of attitude, told me I was lying, and hung up on me

I've had to flag them down before, give it a try. Or invest in some spike strips

wouldnt you know it, I call back and while I still haven't gone inside my house, he came again, and waited 20 minutes while ringing the doorbell vigorously to no answer, so they are refusing to deliver it here.

When you see the driver pass your house and turn around, I figure the note could be bright green with neon lights on the front door and would be useless. I never had a problem with UPS. Fedex on the other hand. I will never use them, and will not order from places that use them.

UPS around here is pretty bad at least in my opinion. Ive had many packages come looking like they'ld been through compactors (thankfully well wrapped products saw no damage). Fedex has a similar track record. USPS just loses letters occasionally. I got one that was postmarked a year and a half ago, yesterday!

What I meant was if the note was there after the first time, maybe the driver woulda seen it when trying to ring the bell. I'm guessing this is all a result of bad timing or incorrect address. UPS won't stop at your house twice and I don't think him driving past your house means he wasn't already there once, unless you can prove he never came.

the door is next to me so i am pretty sure for him to come see the note held see me. he says he was here at 2:11, and that I was not. At 2:11 I was sitting where I am right now, outside of the house (door is open), my dog is next to me. Enjoying the weather and vacation. No UPS person was near my home ON FOOT at that time. NO NOTE about a missed delivery attempt 2 was left, meaning he wasn't here. I just want the pressure plate and flywheel, but by this time it doesn't matter as the tow has been called off, and the shop cant do the work tonight for pickup tomorrow morning anymore, since the car wasnt there by 4.
