Meet X

I was looking for a car to take over the daily driver duities of my B15. The B15 needs a good amount of work to get it back in good condition. For a while I went around a looked at different cars: EVO, WRX, 2002-2003 Maximas, Xterras, Sentras, and various other new and used cars.

The EVO & WRX were ruled out soon, since I thought keeping those stock would be a little difficult for me. The 2002-2003 Maxima 6-speed was a strong contender for a while. I found a few in the surrounding states, but the owners either did not respond to my inquiries, or the cars were in bad condition. By the time I was ready to buy it was getting very hard to find even a 6-speed model in my area.

After driving the Xterra I knew I liked it. I kept looking around, but I really didn't find any other other manufacturers that had models that interested me. The new Sentra was the next contender. It had a very nice interior (for a sentra), and the looks had grown on me. The 2007 Maxima would have been a contender if they offered a 6-speed option.

So here are some pictures of my 2007 Xterra S 4X4. It's an automatic, which I was able to deal with, since it is better if I ever want/need to tow in the future. Also, it seems that the 6-speeds were having EVO esque problems with their clutches (many were giving out a about 8K).

(I don't drive around in 4WD)

The rest of the pictures.

The B15 gets driven only on the weekends now, and will probably get driven less when Winter comes. At this point I should just be depositing my paychecks into Nissan's account between my car payment and the amount of replacement parts for the B15!

awesome! I love these things! Honestly if I were to get an SUV, it would almost certainly be this. (either the x if I wanted an SUV I could actually take off road, or a Murano if I just wanted a badass street SUV)

The Murano is a nice vehicle. They had a few on the lot that I looked at. In the end I really couldn't see myself in the Murano when it had an Xterra sitting right next to it. The MPG on the Murano is attractive.

I'm very happy with the Xterra. The VQ40 moves the almost 5500 Lb (GW) SUV nicely, even at part throttle. With my daily commute to work it's hovering just under 20MPG, which is right about in the middle of the EPA ratings.
