as long as the whole surface area is covered, i'm 99% sure it doesen't really matter the shape as much as how much area is covered......i have it in my trunk lid just in a few different spots and it works pretty well

Stop wasting your money! Go to home depot, go to the roofing dept and get stuff called roof flashing ( i think its called that). Its a roll that is silver on the outside with a sticky tar center. It has a yellow label, I'm not sure of the brand.
Works just as well as dynamat or some of the dynamat alternatives for literally pennies compared to the cost of the name brand stuff. I did my entire trunk bottom, trunk lid, inner door skin, inner door panel (inside where the window reg is), and even the transmission tunnel and rear parcel shelf. |

The roof stuff is oka,y but you gotta double, triple, and even quadrouple it up to get the same dampening effect as some of the other stuff.
Dynomat is WAY over priced, check this stuff out, its alot better priced, and works great- http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/index.php?cPath=24

I prefer second skin audio over dynamat. Came out ahead in some of the tests I read. Anyway, i've done my doors and roof so far. Makes a nice difference. Once I get a little extra cash I'd like to do the floor next.
But to answer the question, like toyotatat said, as long as you cover the area, it doesnt matter if its big or small pieces. Just cover as much as possible. fwiw, I put down 2 layers of damplifier, a light coat of spectrum then covered w/ a layer of overkill. |
