Have an Innovate LC-1? Come inside.
I'm looking to see how anyone else that maybe using an LC-1 has it hooked up. I'm finally getting around to installing it. The instructions are somewhat confusing and actually seem contradictory is some parts. More specifically the Blue and White wires. It suggests these be grounded to the block for best results... ok fine. If i do that, the wiring doesn't reach into the passenger compartment for the gauge hook up / lap top connection. So are people ignoring the suggestions in the manual and just hitting switched power inside the car and grounding to the chassis? It specifically says NOT do ground to the chassis in the manual...so i'm like WTF how should I do it? Help!

Mine are not grounded to the block. Mine are grounded to the bolts on my e-brake. Everything works fine

Big things with car as they get older, the resistance throughout the car changes, as the steel rusts, and the stock copper grounds oxidize.
I would reccomend that you upgrade your "Big three" wires, alt to battery, -battery to chassis, and frame to engine block, with AT least 4 gauge wires, as well as the other "smaller" grounding straps throughout the enigne compartment. When i did this in my eagle talon, i noticed quicker starts, better idle, and an overall smoother running engine, my grounds varied in resistance BIG time, now any bare metal point in my car is less than .02 of an ohm. Plus if you have any car audio, this may solve some of the light dimming issues.

Really important to ground any wideband controller to the same ground point as the ECU that will be referencing it. Markley, if you are using the wideband as just a gauge, then fine, but if you are using it to provide a narrowband or wideband signal to the ECU, it must ground to the ECU ground points to prevent what is known as a ground offset as enigma hinted at.
I have a long article on another forum talking about widebands in depth and installation error. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=754578 |

Cool, I will check that article out.... I will not be using the wideband to interact with the ECU...it is purely for datalogging and monitoring.
