Exhaust

so im moving to a 2.25" pipe with a high-flow cat. i have a flowmaster(no comments i like the sound). my question is this, if i take the resonator off, will it end up farting?

The resonator quiets the exhaust quite a bit.

You'll get the typical honda "noise" that all the ricers have if it's off, most likely. I'd say wedge a bigger resonator in there or stick a 30" glasspack instead if you want loud.

my buddy is running a h22a in his 92 accord...he has a 2.25>2.5" all the way back...i think he's running skunk 2 header to a apex catback and his doesn't sound too bad...as far as i know he doesn't get that typically annoying honda sound that most get b/c he kept his stock cat in (which i recommend if you don't want your honda to sound like crap). i actually like his car, last i heard he put down a low 14 in the 1/4 mile

yea, thats the thing im adding in a high-flow cat, and going from the 2" to 2.25" as i said before, and from what ive been hearing you get a raspy ricey sound without a resonator. so i guess the only way to keep my "queen bee" sound as people like to call it is to keep a resonator on there? because mine is deep but not very loud....

so you guys say put one on?

Even if you run without the resonator in the flowmaster is very open inside and will help with the sound. You shouldn't have the buzz sound just the hum from the flowmaster. Give it a shot if you don't like it you can always have a resonator welded back in.

It may get raspy without the resonator. I know with the Cobalts at least, that we HIGHLY recommend the others not to get rid of the resonator for that reason, not too sure about the Honda and Acura motors though, but I would think that you would have the same effect.

Honda's sound like utter **** without resonators or with small ones. Bees in a can, raspy, and just annoying come to mind.

best sounding honda exhaust i ever heard was a 00 v6 with 2.5" pipes, no resonators, and STOCK mufflers. sounded bad ass. not too loud and very deep.

Im assuming he ment to say a 2000 honda acord v6 who did a strait pipe and instead of putting an aftermarket muffler just used to dual stockies... I've seen pleny of people do it, and it sounds good on may cars...

I'm getting one of these for me car, 2.5 inch cause I've got a turbo. But yeah, definately get rid of the stock resonators and mufflers, they don't flow worth crap.

you need a cat and a decent size resonator for it to sound "good". it won't have the typical buzzing sound.

I had a 2.5" cat-back on my 240 and it wasn't turbo, and it sounded pretty decent I thought.
