Hey I have a cool story, Saturday night I was down philly going to the races, Crossing over the double decker bridge, so a silver srt-4 wants to play, so my boy who is driving his 99 civic si with a type r swap drops it into 3rd gear. The srt-4 does the same, we are neck and neck until my boy hits 7500 rpm doing around 120mph, we started to pull on this srt-4 Holy #@*%. That same day earlier we dynoed his car at xotic motorsports, he layed down 172 at the wheels. Compared to a stock srt-4 laying down 232 whp stock, I was really surpised we were pulling. And I dont even know if the srt was stock, it may have some mods. I just

:P thought I'd tell a cool race story.

nice story. the si weighs a lot less than an srt, so you have to factor that in. plus the stock exhaust it killer top end, so the srt probably fell flat on its face after 120. very impressive for a si though, not too many out there than can hang with an srt. good job

Not many that can hang with an srt? Come on your not driving a ferarri. yes they are quick for a 4 cylinder but there are still alot of cars that will walk you.

Also, as far as a stock srt vs a civic si with a type r swap yes the civic can beat the srt. especially in a top speed run. any turbo car with a stock down pipe will fall flat on its face at higher speeds. small turbo+ restrictive down pipe= no more go. throw in the fact that the type r motor has great top end and that all boils down to srt losing. In a striahgt drag race the srt may get them cause a stock type r runs like a 14.4-5 but im sure if he did a swap he isnt fully stock.

considering that this si with a swap was putting out 172 fwhp, i doubt that there's anything else major done to the car.

and yes, there aren't too many si's out there that can hang with an srt. even this one with a swap only pulled on it after 120, so tell me how a regular one would do?

get off your srt hating and get over it already. i was complimenting the guy. have you been beaten by too many srts lately or something? you seem to have a hard on to go after srt owners, or maybe just me, stating that everything out there is better and/or faster.

I drive a wrx... clearly stated in my signature.. the ghettoest wrx! I havent been beaten by any srt-4 because i dont drag race on the street and have never been to the track. I bought my car because it is good in all weather and good in the twisties. Drag racing is racing in its simplest form and while its fun to watch i dont really care for it. Yes an srt would beat me but oh well, i really dont care. I dont have a hard on for srt's i have a love for all cars. I just found it funny how you gave him props for beating an srt then followed it up with the "not many cars can" statement like your driving a modena.

First off, On the streets (yea that sounds gay but anyway) most cars cant "hang with srt's" (you dont see modenas on saturday nights). And alot of srts are modded which they can walk evos/sti and the like

Now there are v8 that hang with the srt but in the stop light to stop light world an srt will win 95% of the races

Now back to the topic at hand, I have a rsx type s and the 05's are putting down in excess of 185 to the wheels with and a pretty good tranny(running 14.8 and 0-60 in 6.2sec) so I find it very hard to believe that your buddies swaped civic(172 fwhp) beat and srt(13.9 in the 1/4 mile). I realize thats not top end but at 100 i would figure the srt should have 3 cars easy(actually very easy) on a swaped civic(172).
WHat prob happened is the srt driver had a half of a brain and started to coast at 120

I call BS or srt let off

Anyway let the discuss continue

yea damn i tried to make a good point and had to say something about the modding

anyway when someone says most cars cant hang witht he srt hes right

keep in mind the evo/sti number for 1/4 times are with a launch(dont think people are going to 5k launch there evo/sti on the street(could be wrong)) srt numbers are about whats its goign to run on the street

so its not like hes was saying nothign can hang with his civic

maybe that proves me point a little better

if they are drag racing on the street most people will 5k launch their car. if a person is willign to race you most likely they want to win wich means they will use the cars biggest advantage, so a 5k launch is almost a certain. Atleast for every drag race ive ever witnessed with allwheel drive cars it has been.
