These are only a fraction of the pics taken this weekend. Unfortuantly the car spent the majoraty of the time being worked but we still took the second fastes time (non-race). lost to a professionally driven 514whp srt. any was the neon will make its racing debut at Mid-Ohio may 23.

big thanks to tim (wiisass) for comming out and helping. if you guys every need anyone to setup/build you a suspension he is the man to see.
Also a big thanks to Ray from turbo tek for helping with the engine troubles.

actually since the car was giving us a lot of trouble we never put the camera in the car, and when it was ok to run we completely forgot about it

did you cut your fenders and then tape them? is that what i'm seeing?

and did you end up getting the correct front springs or what are you using right now?

yes the fenders were cut for wheel clearence, and the tape is there to prevent any further paint chipping. oh and we got 4 inch helper springs to solve the spring problem

It's about time, I expected these pics to be up Monday morning. It was a good weekend, it's a shame that we couldn't get the car running really well until Sunday, but that **** happens.

But there's still a lot to do before Mid-Ohio, I started a list on the plane on the way back of my suggestions, but I still need to go over it again. But I think with a couple small changes and a decent, reliable engine package, that car will do pretty well on the track. Just let Scott drive it a little more and the times will drop.

Greg, can you find out what the part number for the strut inserts is? If it's not the shortest one, we might be able to get a different one and shorten the casing a little so we can get the car lower and not have to use the helper spring. And then we can still retain the extra damper travel and not worry about bottoming anything out. Although I think we still had about 3/4" of travel left in the front. I never got around to checking the rear, but that's something you can look at once the cars get back. But the bumpstop is still in there, so we still have room to mess around with back there.

whoa what this nonsnsense about times dropping with scott driving???

and as far as the insert couldnt we just get shorter spring and that would increas the strut travel? the ends of the housing are welded i think; so i dont know about the insert.

i get out of school i think tuesday of next week so i will be devoting all my time to getting the car in tip top shape. and hopefully the Stage 3 comes before Mid-Ohio and we can have some power and be more competititve

A shorter spring won't work. I thought we had talked about why. If you replace the spring on there with a shorter spring and leave the helper and just adjust the perch so the spring doesn't come loose, it will sit the same as it is now. The only way to really adjust the height without affecting shock travel is getting a shorter insert and modifying the housing or moving the lower mount. But we don't have much room because the cv's are there.

We can get together sometime next week and go over what I think should be done at least suspension wise.

well i dont think that the we can afford a shorter strut insert, but with a shorter spring we dont have to worry about the strut bottoming out?

With a shorter spring, it will either bottom out or it will sit exactly the same, it depends on where the lower collar sits. But with the spring you have on there, the helper spring isn't really compression at all when the car is in the air, so it won't really make a difference. Just think about it, you're limited by the size of the strut and the need for travel. So that's what has to be changed to get any difference in ride height out of it.

yes your right, i though i if i bought a set of six inch springs i could raise the lower collar netting more strut travel with out changing the ride height. however after i thought it through i realize i am wrong.

ill give you a call when im home from school, so we can talk suspension.

oh i just noticed the flame under the car in this pic. one of the corner workers told me that there was a flame so big that it came out the sides and rear of the car. this happened when the BOV flange popped off and the computer dumped a lot of fuel= fire!!
