ThePrimerSuspect's XR-7 ITS NOT A MAZDA

so im finally getting around to making a member journal. i bought this car about a year ago to replace my old cougar, which was eaten by rust. i picked it up from a friend's mother who blew the motor and trans in one shot. the body is perfect, just needs paint. i dont plan to go crazy with this car, just something really nice and decently fast. im shooting for modest low 12s when all is said and done.
so first i got a 5.0 from my buddys 92 mark7 that got totaled, and my AOD trans out of my old cougar that was rebuilt with about 8k miles on it. swapped it in, and drove about a week before the pump went in the trans. the car sat for about another 3 months because i was broke from the initial swap. i had it sitting at work and my boss said he was going to have it towed if i didnt get it out of there. so the only thing i could do was swap it to manual since i couldnt afford to rebuild the auto. i had a 4 speed laying around so i dropped it in, along with a lightweight flywheel and stage 2 clutch. the four speed sucked to say the least. it was like driving a truck. long throw and a huge rpm drop between gears. so i picked up a t-5 for $200 and swapped that in. the car runs like a champ. i love everything about it. so for the time being, im just trying to make it look good since it already runs good. i took the turbo couple hood i had on the first cougar and spray painted it. most recently i did a 5 lug rear swap, out of the mark7. i picked up an almost perfect set of chrome cobra rims pretty cheap, so that motivated me to get the rear done.

this was pretty much an all day ordeal. we ran into some problems because the brake line was cut going to the rear axle off the mark and the cougar lines are smaller, so i had to modify a few things (temporary) to get this thing to stop.

we had the rear out of the car in about an hour, but that was the easy part. the only thing that sucks now is one legged burn outs. but that'll all change in a couple weeks. i have a brand new posi unit and 3:73s ready to go in.

too much gap between the wheel well and the tire in my opinion, so i guess i gotta drop it a little bit next. thats it for now, sorry about the ****ty camera phone pics.

new pics.......new toyo proxies on the back......275/35/18s

7/9/07- front end is finally done...........kinda
so i finally got around to changing the front spindles for the 5 lug conversion. after several trips to a few different junkyards, i found everything i need. not the easiest thing i've ever done, but whatever. progress has been slow since my SRT has been in the bodyshop and this was my daily. things were going pretty smooth considering that i was really hung over and so were my friends, and it was 100 degrees out, so i was pretty much working alone most of the day. i finally thought i was done saturday afternoon, then i went to put the wheels on and, oh ****, they hit the struts!!!! so off to autozone, strauss, and 3 different pep boys to find the spacers i need! i got it all back together saturday night, and the alignment was so far out that i could barely move the car. so sunday i adjusted the camber as far negative as i could, and set the toe out so i could move it until i get it aligned. it actually drives pretty straight surprisingly. but then, i was on my way home sunday night, and the alternator decided to stop charging. so it gets to sit at my moms house since my schedule this week is way too busy and i just dropped most of my checking account into the dodge. thats it for now.

current mods:
HO motor swap
T5 manual swap
lightweight flywheel
stage 2 clutch
underdrive pulleys
electric fans
flowmasters with offroad h-pipe
5 lug swap, 3:27s with an open rear
turbo couple hood

future mods: (in order)

line lock
finish the exhaust
1 inch drop
5% tint
fix the dings and paint
completely redo the interior
stereo system
347 stroker or turbo (or both)
T-56 6 speed

grand total spent so far....................$2300
