Need info: How to de-wing

I want to take off my wing to see how it looks like without it and see if I like it...

Now here is the problem. Last night I went to take it off, got the screws off, got the wiring disconnected... And it wouldn't lift off so it is obviously sealed/glued on there pretty tight. What kind of stuff can I use that will remove the adhesive without damaging anything (paint, the wing, etc)?

Also, what kind of adhesive/sealant is used on wings in order to make them water-tight? Just in case I don't like it in the long run I might as well grab some in order to re-seal it properly.

I guess you could take a razor and just cut the advesive carefully not to touch the paint. I never understood the idea though, everyone now is starting to go wingless, and cars are starting to look like horseshoe crabs without a tail.

do it on a hot day and use a hair dryer to heat the glue up a little bit. Just don't put the hair dryer directly on the paint and it won't hurt anything. I'm not sure what type of sealer it is but you can use anything thats fine for outdoor use and is waterproof. Just look for something at advance auto

Just thought about it and I'm pretty sure you don't have a hair dryer at the apartment. You might be able to get away with parking it in the sun for awhile and hoping it heats it up enough.

Don't use a razor. That'll **** **** up. If you need to get the sealer off the best bet is to heat it up again and use a credit card to scrape it off.

yea use a hair dryer and just seperate it slowly...you can use some WD-40 and a rag to whip of any junk stuck on the trunk them too...I image some RTV would work fine to seal it back up

I used clear RTV to seal my caps in. I think i'll either buy a professional kit (like 35$ shipped, matched to my paint) or i'll save the ~600$ to get them professionally done. I've had my spoiler off for close to 4 months now, and I certainly think it looks 100% sharper. More muscular, less overdone. And since I have a gnarly hood, it kinda shows that off ;)

I don't think I will get rid of it. I will keep it since I might decide to put it on again, sorry

And Jon, when is that car detail thing going down? Would it be possible to try it then?
