some computer tech questions

I have a few questions, maybe someone can help...

I juss bought a "my book" external hard drive, and I saved all my songs from my old pc, and triying to get them on my new pc. They load but won't play, it says there mp4? Is there anyway to convert them to mp3?

Also, my netzer program got "corrupted", so I deleted all the files, but it only deletes all of them but 2 of the files in the folder, it says I "need permmision" to do it? And now when I try re installing it, it says that it can't cause its open and running. It says its running in the taskbar, but its not there.

Another, my old pc, I gave it to my gf's brother, its not detecting the modem, but its in and in correctly?

1) What program are you using to try to play the files? What is the extension of the files. I know programs like WinAmp can play MP4 files, which may be easier then converting all of your songs.

2) This could be a few things. First restart your computer, as this should ensure that the program is shut down. Second, use the control panel (add/remove programs) to remove the netzer program. You should always do this first, and only afterwards delete any files or folders associated with the program.

3)What type of modem is this? Internal or external? Dial-up or high-speed?

1. F MS, use winamp since your media may be digitally signed to your computer. I tunes music?

2. Try what cburwell says since I have no clue what you are trying to do there

3. I can look at it for a fee, $85 /hr min of 2 hrs and if the modem is dead I will give you a new modem.

What type of files are your songs? Are they mp4, mp3 or something else? What OS do you have running on both comps?

How did you delete the files? The best way to get rid of the program would be to use the uninstall file that came with it (if it did come with it). The second best thing to do would be to uninstall it through add/remove programs.
