Antique tractor graveyard

I stumbled on this place yesterday out in western PA. I could have spent a couple of days there and still not see everything there. 70 years and countless acres of old tractors, crawlers, and heavy equipment. A real salvage yard, stinking of rancid gasoline and gear oil. I really need to invest in a real camera and some skills, the foggy setting would have made some cool pics.

^ ohh yes. you get a truck out there and just start loading up, and then head to your local scrap yard. most of that antique stuff is bent or broken so its junk anyway. just remember whereever you go metal is worth $$$$$

Here is the remains of what I *think* was a Dodge panel truck.

These look like some late 30's vintage Plymouth trucks. I'm just guessing on that, there were no badges on them anywhere.

Oh, and the coolest bench grinder I have ever seen. It tips the scales at 1200lbs

Wow, I allways wanted to walk around in a huge junk yard full of old stuff like that. I just think it would be cool. Imagine the amount of money that was invested in all that stuff though. I mean, someone probably had to pay for all that junk in there. It had to be worth something at some time. I dont think you just collect all that stuff for free.

That collection is 70 years old. I want to go back there in a few weeks, just to get a closer look at some of it. The old tractors are such a basic design, yet rugged and totally functional. Old junk yards are the closest we can get to knowing what it must have been like way back when....I look at some of those machines and think that someone used them to plow hundreds of acres, laying the foundation for the machines we have today. It's all about the history.

Your right mike.

Thats a 54 Sedan Delivery.

One of my friends in HS restored one of those with his dad.

Can you PM me the address or the name of the place? Is it open to the public? Pick and Pay? Family friends? Fill me in. I love those old junkyards, I get alot of the parts for my old cafe bikes off of the trucks and heavy equipment in the local junkyard.

Seat Springs, Fenders, Chrome moldings, metal catch cans, all sorts of odd stuff.

Thanks!

I wanted to add that I don't mind overdone collections, or a "junkyard" for parts.

But ALL of that stuff is going to waste! I bet that if only 1/100th of that stuff was kept in good condition, there would be a lot of happy people out there. I always hear about people restoring old tractors. It's really ashame that all of that is going to waste.
