can someone explain what these holes are for

i'm sure there is some point to them, is it to reduce the ammount of drag from air catching under the bumper lip or what? i think they look extremly gay and saw a neon with them today so i got him and tried to look them up but can't find anything

they eliminate air drag when drag racing because it allows air to come out the holes instead of being trapped behind the bumper and causing drag

They are speed holes. They add like 100 HP each! And each one costs like $800!

ACTUALLY... where the tail lights are on most funny cars is two flaps that sit closed but when moving forward the air pushes them open to do the same thing =P

or you could just reshape the underside of the car to make it flat so the air flows right out the back and doesnt get hung up on a bumper thats sticking out...

We bolted an air slip onto the underside of the SRT to do just that. No one can see it and it doesn't require stupid holes.

yes that is the term i was looking for... isnt the underside if the Carrera GT completely streamlined carbon fiber? baller!

edit: "With attainable speeds of more than 186 mph (300 km/h), aerodynamics plays a crucial role. To achieve as high output co-efficients as possible (so-called “downforce”), the Carrera GT has an underbody geometry that can only be found in similar form in pure racing sports cars. The underbody is completely cased in carbon fiber and provides an additional suction effect thanks to its rear diffusor and flow channels."

haha, you guys are crazy.

funny cars do infact have "speed holes" or "speed flaps" whatev ya want to call them, usually up high in the body, where the "tail lights" are supposed to be.

something similar to this

here is an integra with the same idea, but no bling effect
