Put my stock wheels back on with all season tires about a month ago. Who would have thunk it was gonna be so warm still. Oh well, my car is daily driven so if it does snow atleast I'll be ready.

I have my winter tires on. I put them on about a month ago after I got back from Vermont, they had snow on the ground, and I was planning to go back. Most of the mountains have since closed or just aren't worth going to so now I'm just stuck. I don't want to take them off and have it snow a week later. Worst winter ever!

just because its not snowing doesnt mean that summer tires are safe. even with the higher temps this winter the average temp is still too cold for a summer tire to perform safely. i would definitely not recommend running a summer tire through the winter if you like keeping your car in one piece.
snow tires, however, are seeming to be unnecessary as well ![]()

Besides snow tires are way less safe in anything but snow and ice. Went to make panic stop the other day and nearly ran into what I was stopping for. My KDW's, even in the freezing cold, gripped way better. On a side note though, it's nice being on smaller rims, my car rides like a normal car again. :p

I just see a lot of people, here and otherwise, who think snow tires are for snow only, and as long as there's no snow on the ground then you're fine on summer tires. this is FALSE.
Summer tires are made to be soft and grippy in warmer temperatures, but as temperatures drop the compound hardens up and its more like you're driving on bricks. just want to make that clear for the people who didnt know that because they can be very unsafe. I would guess that at 60 degrees your average summer tire will be fine, at 50 degrees it would be ok, at 40 degrees it would be less than ideal, at 30 degrees and below it is clearly unsafe. Grip levels will plummet as temperatures drop. Anything but the most hardcore specialty snow tires are designed to grip reasonably well on dry, wet, and snowy/icy conditions in cold temperatures (<50 degrees or so?). I have Dunlop Wintersport M3s and they grip at least as well as my stock all seasons did in the dry since they are a 'high performance' (i.e. mild) snow tire.
