If a company makes a brake kit for your car then they will list it as a brake kit for your car. There could be a chance a random caliper would mount to your spindle or upright, but even if it does, it's going to be a lot more work trying to get everything you need. Rotors have different offsets, the center of the caliper will be different depending on how it mounts, etc.
Size of the wheels is a factor. If you can't fit the caliper under the wheel then obviously that kit is not for you. Offset and spoke design is another thing that needs to be considered. Bigger calipers may not fit under some wheels due to the way the spokes are designed. That's why many wheel companies offer different faces for their wheels so that they can make sure that the wheels will fit bigger brakes.

If this is for the RS, why not 4pots/legacy GT Rears? This maintains the proper brake bias for the car plus you get larger rotors all around.

You can improve your current brake setup substantially by upgrading the components in your current rotor/caliper setup... listed in order by benefit/price order: pads will really change your braking, getting a more aggressive street pad can work wonders even by itself. the next thing I would recommend would be stainless steel lines and better fluid, then for better feel if you want to take it a step farther a master cylinder brace. Replace rotors when you have to, but thats the only time to do that.
If you really do want to replace the whole system I would recommend WRX front brakes if you are on a budget, or the subaru 4 pot fronts. "H6" rears are an inexpensive but effective upgrade for the rear.
