06 Evo MR.. opinions?

What's the deal on the Evo MR's for 06? I've been looking at them and am going to test drive one this week. Are there any issues on the new evos? I know Mitsubishi is bitchy about their warranty and all, but any evo guys wanna share their opinions and such with the car? Any info would be appreciated.

I don't own one, but my friend at school just got one and he has taken me on a couple rides in it now and that thing is sweeeet. As far as the warranty and how it may match up to a Evo 9, we'll have to see wha the Evo guys have to say.

I love my 06 MR!!! I have nothing bad to say about it. The clutch is the first thing to go on them, but as long as you are careful with your launching they can last a while. I drive my car HARD and nothing has broke yet

If I could afford an Evo, I would be driving one, let's just put it that way.

Like everyone else has said, usually it's the clutch that goes, but the rest of the drivetrain is preatty strong from my understanding. Just remember you can only do so many 5k+ launchs before something breaks on any car

The MR 9s are all-around very nice cars – decent torque and power from the factory – smooth handling – easy to build power with minor mods – etc.

The clutches are weak because Mitsu would prefer blown clutches versus blown transmissions from new owners. I went 42,000 miles with bolt-ons before replacing the clutch. If you drive easy and don’t mod anytime soon your clutch should last for a little while.

Other than that they are very reliable. I'm at 67,000 miles - runs like a Swiss watch.

Oh, my side rear marker light bulb has burnt out!

I went 50k on the stocker. It was just starting to shudder on take off. Im at 56k modded and the car runs 100%. The RS is at 32k and is 100%.

Probably one of the main reasons for my purchase – reliability with good power.

"Doug" - Mitsubishi warranty is something to consider also. If you value that then leave it stock. Just know that modding and voided warranties go hand in hand from Mitsu. Just don’t go “GT35R” as your first mod. Simple bolt-ons won’t hurt reliability – build slowly – take your time and enjoy the car if you decide to purchase.

…and if you haven’t guessed by now, Ray owns a Subaru.

I'm actually more moved towards the STI limited after reading about warranty woes with mitsubishi... I think I'm going to find myself in the STI. If I can find one and a good deal.

Subaru is no better really. Just depends on your mod path. I would never bring a modded car to a dealer. Just not worth your agravation. Then agian I dont let anyone touch my car but me and I have no warranty and like it that way. I like to know whats being done to my car and that its been donr the right way.

Whatever you decision you'll like it they are both great cars. Just dont think your goning to mod that Suby, blow somthing then bring it to them thinking that they are going to fix it. You could be in for a rude awakening

I totally understand, but im not going to super mod it. mitsu is anal about bolt ons for sure, a few friends of mine have subarus who go to their dealer with bolt ons no problem. im just looking to put an exhaust and a blow off valve on it.
