I love slipping clutches

Well I've been noticing that my clutch would slip towards the upper RPM range of 1st and 2nd gears. The car used to chirp/spin going into second and rarely do it into 3rd, but it doesn't chirp going into second anymore.

Tonight was really bad. I was leaving Walmart and I punch it in first and drop it into second the tach shoots straight up but the car wasn't going any where fast. This is the second time this has happened to me in the past month.

This is my 3rd clutch for the car. The first was the stocker. Then a stock replacement and now the current ACT street disk and heavy duty pressure plate.

I already have a brand new street disk. I might have to get a rebuild kit for the flywheel, $149 (aluminum fly). Which just replaces the friction ring and mounting hardware.

But what pressure plate to run? Anybody with experience with Clutchnet clutches? I've been eye balling them and they seem like decent clutches. I just need the pressure plate... The only people that I've seen sell them separately is ACT and Clutchnet.

Mine used to chirp into 2nd as well. Now it doesnt because of the clutch/heavier wheels....BTW it used to chirp about 4k ago when I bought the car. Looks like its time for a new clutch soon. Still stays in gear and such no slipping out of gear, but i can feel it dont grab as hard and quick

hondas chirping gears I love it! Chirps are just your car telling you it's not man enough to spin through the next gear.

Ok, and Honda's doing full burnouts at 80mph... Is that better than just "chirping"?

OT: Can we please leave this guy alone. Jerry that sucks but if you think about it it did stand up to alot. Also, can't you just have the Flywheel resurfaced since you just need a disc.

Have you had that flywheel resurfaced before? I had mine done once, and on try number two, the guys at Xotic told me it was pretty thin and to get a new one.

I only have experience with Spec and ACT. My Spec grabbed like a mother, so I was happy with that. The pedal feel was still pretty close to stock, so you wouldn't be getting that super hard clutch feel.

I need a clutch very badly to. I feel your pain! I can be in 4th, sometimes even 5th at like 3 grand, and if I punch it, it just revs up until I let off. Any suggestions for a clutch that I could buy now, but would be able to hold like 250-300hp for the future? And price is kinda important, but I guess for quality you gotta pay. Anyone have experience with those ebay clutches? I've heard they're actually not half bad.

Do yourself a favor and dont go too cheap on a clutcch from Ebay. Get a ACT Street they are pretty cheap.

I've seen pics of people getting the aluminum flywheels turned and the friction disks end up turning real thin and some instances start to cut into the mounting nuts/screws. I'll just have to mount a new friction disk.

I've been reading around about pressure plate life spans and some report that the springs in them get weaker over time with heat and use. So I figured mine is probably really worn also.

No, The clutch and flyheel went on at the same time. I don't think Spec sells the pressure plates sperately? I'll look around I'm sure someone does.

I want to keep the street disk though, but if I have to then I'll go with a sprung 6-puck from Clutchnet.

I don't know about those. Your talking about the XTD clutches right? I've heard of people running those, but they have only been running them for a short period of time. I'll have to see how they hold up after a couple of years of use.

There are numerous clutches to choose from. Check out http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/ they carry a wide variety of products and there prices are usually good.

Ahhh the lovely pungent odor of burnt clutch. My clutch is getting pretty thin too, engages pretty high and if I dump the clutch in 2nd or higher at full throttle it will burn. Tried to chase down a guy that passed me on double yellow a while ago and just sat there in a cloud of clutch smoke. :P

Jerry has the only rotary that goes through more clutches than motors.

I would go with the aluminum flywheel with the insert and a decent clutch. Too aggressive and it gets hard to drive without the weight of the flywheel.
Sorry I have no info on WHAT clutch to get, but I have only ever replaced 1 clutch with aftermarket, and that was the EVO at 1000 miles. The ACT 2600 was a little weak all told though. I managed to smoke it once launching.

Hell yeah! LoL..

Yeah I already have the Aluminum flywheel from SRmotorsports. I put that and the ACT on at the same time.

ACT only makes two different pressure plates for my car and its the Heavy Duty and the Extreme. I really don't want to go with the Extreme because I've heard of people breaking clutch forks and pivot balls. If I do go with the Extreme then more than likely I will upgrade the clutch master sylinder to have a less of a chance of a blow out.

I wanted to call Clutchnet to get more info on there pressure plates but I just got 4 wisdom teeth pulled and I can't even open my mouth.
