This is true, I am home in PA right now and my parents neighbor happens to have a 70's pickup that he painted in a similar way. And I couldn't believe how good it looked so I went researching a little and found a couple sites and How-to's. It is something I would do to a beater without thinking twice.

There is a kid On Team-Integra and Honda Tech that did this to his Integra and it seemed to have turned out well also. But like chaos311clarity said I would really like to see a roller job in person.

Yea its a huge thread on H-T. I think the best results are when people paint the car white. I guess because it dosent have to look so shiny. The orange charger did come out quite well

I got a few fenders laying around, going to give it a test run. If it works out, will strip off the junky Maaco paint job on my beater, and paint that while I am driving my newer car.

I've researched the hell out of this. The paint fades fast. For the time you will invest putting a coat on, waiting, putting a coat on, etc and then wet sanding, you would have been better off working to pay for a cheap Maaco job.
