I've driven one. Not impressed at all. I mean, it's a Miata, it's a blast to drive and the handling is telepathic, but only 40 extra horsepower over the N/A model? Com'on, worst turbo set-up ever. And the intercooler is literally the size of a dinner plate. One could easily turbo a 1st gen Miata and get double the power for 1/3 the price.

The Racing Hart wheels are hot though.

I use to see one at the train station ever morning. The wheels are the hotness. Nice little cars.

Heh...I saw one of those at my office, saw the tiny intercooler and said "awwwwwwww look at the cute little intercooler". Then one of my coworkers said "yeah, that's so and so's car, he was just showing it to me" and I couldn't help but bust out laughing.

Dunno...I've just always considered the Miata a chick car.

Miata= One of the best Autocross cars made. Also, an incredible car on the track too. Spec Miatas are the most intense cars to watch racing. They put about 50 on the track at once and say "have fun."

But think about it...okay say you swap the turbo....intercooler and what not...do a few minor mods....your looking at little over 200HP in a car where the power to weight ratio rocks!

plus it still has the ability to take turns like no other

But Justin, you still don't fit.

Those things are made for short people like me and that's it.

You are 100% right there. I'm a crew member on a SCCA GT1 team and our whole team takes a break from the car when the Spec Miata class goes out to run. That is by far the best race to watch. So many tiny Miatas and usually inexperienced drivers. The last race I saw one get put into a tree and I don't mean the truck of the tree I mean up in the tree with the leaves. If you ever get a chance to go to one you should.

They are definitely awesome to watch. I watched a full race down at Sebring and I didn't move. Everyone had left and I didn't even know. I was so into the race. About 50 Miatas all running open header or exhaust just flying around the track. It was incredible.

My dad is 6 foot and he's the one that bought the Miata. With the helmet on for autocrossing, his head sticks out like 5 inches above the roll bar :D

Has anyone ever autocrossed one? It is so much cooler than anything you can ever do in a straight line, I don't care what kind of car it is. The turn-in is immediate and fierce, and even on street tires it grabs the asphalt like nothing else. Accleration is alright, pretty good above 5K rpm. Below that it's off cam and feels dead. But take a turn and you'll forget the lack of torque.

I almost regret buying my WRX instead of a Miata. Way fun to drive.
