Or, while you're at it, on the podium of any Formula 1 circuit, ALMS race, etc.

Just messing, I had a Toyota as my last car and it had stellar reliability.

Extremely reliable...now if they can just find a way to insert a soul and make them actually entertaining to drive. Or, at least in the case of Toyota/Lexus actually LET you drive. Those cars are now the mavens of electronic nannies.

Also, just for the record, these rankings change constantly. CR only ranks cars based on reliability issues. JD Power ranks the overall quality of the car and gives weight to issues of general poor design of the car. Last years JD rankings had Porsche as the "best" new cars, followed by Lexus, Toyota and then Cadillac. In addition pretty much all of the American brands ranked above average.

I guess you just need to define "best".

I had a Mustang with a Saleen Racecraft 3 suspension that I used to run at Lime Rock in addition to driving it back and forth from college in Boston to home. Car had almost 200k on it when I traded it in and it never had an issue. My friend had a Honda Civic that was in the shop more times than I can count and was eventually lemon lawed. There are examples from both sides of "good" and "bad" cars.

I would hope so. I loved older Japanese cars. 300ZX, VR-4's, DSM's, Supra's. The current crop just leaves me a little blah. I like STI's and Evo's, but would probably never own one. The 350Z is fun to toss around, but falls short in a lot of ways. For just Toyota cars, I really like the new IS's and was thinking about getting one to replace my Audi. I'll have to take one for a spin and see.

I am anxious to see the new GT-R, but it's going to need to be a hell of a performer to get my money over say, a Vette.

My cousin was a Subie mechanic and will never own anything else. If I personally had to choose I would take a Subie over an Evo, but neither are really my cup of tea. Though I do appreciate both of them for what they are.

I was a little disappointed that you can't get a manual in the IS350. Between that and the computer intervening with my "fun", I just don't know if it's worth the scratch. I'll probably end up with another Audi A4, TT or a VW GTI. Was also thinking about a used Mercedes C32.

Well you can get the IS250 with AWD.
But you get more power from the 350.
So i guess it depends.lol.
And I'm sure 2 easy mods on the 250 could up the hp soooo.

If it did come down to the IS, it would be tough. This is my daily driver, so it doesn't need to be the be all, end all, but I do like to have fun on my commute.

350 makes good power and has a better suspension.

250 is cheaper and actually let's you change your own gears.

In all honesty, I would probably end up with the 250 for my needs.

Nothing really wrong per se. It's got over 100k on the clock. It's running strong, but just getting old.

I like the A4 for hauling people and crap around. TT's are just a blast to drive. GTI is a fun car and I love the DSG and 2.0T, plus you can put a lot of crap in it. The C32, because I've always wanted one, lol. The IS because I have always been intrigued by them and think it's a good all around car.
