3:00am Police Phone Call...

Well here I am sleeping soft and sound and my phone rings.

It's my house. Something must be wrong if my house is calling me at 3:00am. My Dad said a Middletown Police Department cop just came to my house and knocked on my door. Gave my Dad a DC# and said to call about a Silver Nissan Sentra.

Well my parents had no idea what was going on.

The Philadelphia PD forwhatever reason looked into my car (last car parked on the street) and saw that my steering column was busted up. Well my car crapped out a few weeks ago and I took it apart to get to the ignition wires. They reported my car as stolen and called my parents to tell them to come recover it.

I'll edit this in the morning. I can't think...

Edit: To top it off I got a parking ticket at 4:20am.

so wait a minute the cops report your car as stolen? just because the steering column was seen as being busted up? wait last time i checked you (the owner of the car) had to report the car stolen. how is it that philadelphia cops dont even show up to make reports about stolen cars (a personal experience of mine) but they randomly look into cars and decide wether or not they wanna report it stolen. wtf good luck man

The car is registered to both my Dad and I. I guess he ran the tag, saw Langhorne as the city it was registered in and than saw the busted steering column. Anyway, this completly freaked out my parents as they thought they were getting the 3:00am your son's car was found flipped over in a ditch and he didn't make it call.

Parents do that, and don't beat up on the cops, they were trying to do the right thing.

what, are you stupid? They saw a car w/ the steering and ignition busted up, in a city that it wasn't registered in...

You can be damn sure that if that were your car, and it WAS stolen you'd be pretty ****ing excited to be getting that call at 3am.

Yeah, 3am, what are the cops doing? Patrolling the area, looking for anything suspicious...whether it be a drug deal going down, or a car that has a busted steering column... these cops were doing their job.

I'm with Scapegoat, if the car were stolen you wouldn't be complaining right now.

I'm not complaining. I'm just telling the story.

Actually I'm pretty excited to know that atleast two cops drove by betwen 3:00 and 4:20.

My car has been broken into to many times and I've had enough things stolen that its hard for me to feel comfortable parking my car anywhere. Though I don't leave anything in my car that I'll miss (radio, CD's, personal information etc...) I just don't want the headache.

Did they check the car for seemen? That's the first thing any good cop should do .

Hey if you car was stolen you would probably be pretty grateful to be alerted to its location.

Exactly, why wouldn't grand theft auto be high on a cops list?

Hey might be a P.I.T.A. right now...but like Scapegoat was saying...they were actually HELPING instead of just doing their usual "harassment" case that most of us have encountered.

So do you still have to pay the ticket...or what did you get out of this other than a lack of sleep?

The ticket is only $25.00. Again, I am not complaining. Besides lack of sleep I'm not mad. I'm glad the Police are looking out for things.
