I'm feeling a lil jdm!

V7 STi motor with 6 speed dccd transmission. I have a nice guy who purchased the tranny along with me getting the motor. Sending final payment today and should receive it in 2-3 business days. I can't wait! I have already received my Tial 38mm ext. wastegate, forge bov, perrin up-pipe, walbro fuel pump. Thing is going to be a beast. The TMIC and ecu and uncut harness are also included with this purchase. AVCS wiring kit should be here on Thursday! Then off to Xotic motorsports I go!

I'm getting the Tial Ext. Wastegate welded on the Up-pipe and with my current DC-Sports one, there is no room to weld!

I've seen these motors handle 455+ hp with no internal work

I thought you bought the whole package and sold the tranny AFTER it got here.

WoW! I was looking at the package prices. Can anyone tell me why the V7 engine package is $3,600 more than the V6 engine? What's the big difference?

ye olde thread

And the v7 engine is pretty much indestructible. Forged everything. Probably the v7 package included a tranny too compared to your v6 package. The price discrepancy shouldn't be that much.

I am looking into a v5 WRX Type RA and the engine, turbo, X-member, uncut harness, tmic, everything needed for the swap short of an exhaust for 2600 (no tranny). With a tune on any WRX pre v6 you are putting down as much power as USDM STis.

http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/wrx.html

Bam, you can see all engines before v6 were the same. EJ20K and EJ20G (the K being the better). The only difference between STi and WRX during that time was the STi had forged pistons, the tune was more aggressive and it was a VF22 (STi) vs. a VF23 (WRX).

With a reflash and turbo upgrade (to the STi turbo) a WRX could walk a stock STi from the same time period.

Then of course came the EJ205 and times changed.

that v7 is overpriced.

if you are on a budget, get an EJ20K - the WRX and STi EJ20Ks are identical. Reflash and you are golden.

*edit*

Well, almost identical. But at stock and slightly over stock power levels it doesnt matter.

between the v7 STi motors and the v6 STi motors?

7:1 CR on the v7 vs 7.5:1 on v6 (not much but it is a difference)
Forged internals (while the v6 only has forged pistons, cast everything else - the big difference)
AVCS heads (only the v8 heads flow better)

Thats everything off the top of my head

Found other differences - in the heads the valvesprings are stiffer and shorter which = higher rev limit
