I got my car tinted by you guys. What do you charge to remove tint from just the front doors only? BTW car is '05 STi, no frame around door glass.

Thx.

tint isn't legal anywhere really...and here in PA a tint ticket is around $110. But removing tint doesnt really need to be done by a professional unless its the rear window. To take it off, just peel back an edge with a small razor blade...than peel the whole piece of tint off. It should come off with a couple of good tugs in one piece. Than spray some soapy water on the adhesive. A small amount of J&J baby shampoo in water is my favorite thing to use, and least messy. Than with the lubrication from the soapy water, scrape off the glue. It should take a first timer about 20 min or less...perhaps per window if you're really taking your time.
Let me know if that doesnt help.
Thanks
Ryan

Thanks Ryan.
The Officer told me the fine if not removed was $106.50 per window, so $213 total.

well he's b.s.'in you on that. The fine is always the same and its $110...or perhaps its $106...but for tint anywhere...not per window.

x2, I got a ticket for tint and it was exactly $106.50, same for KrautFed20v for his tint. You can remove it yourself it's not hard just a PITA. You need a couple razor blades and put some baby shampoo + water in a bottle and spray it down. Use the razor blades to scrape off the gunk (looks like boogers) they use to keep the tint on.

LOL...thats called adhesive...and its not neccessarily what we use to adhere the tint...its already part of the tint...there is a side of the tint that is from the manufacture that is the adhesive. LOL...but I knew what you meant. When you remove the tint, it just leaves a resadue. Thats what you need to remove.

Thanks everyone. I need to decide if I'm going to pay the fine or take it off. If they send me a ticket because I didn't remove the tint, can I fight it? Or, is that not worth it? I got a ticket for tint once before and fought it, I got rid of the car before the trial date and the judge dismissed the case.

You are better off just paying the ticket and hope you don't get pulled over again. You can't fight a citation to which you are breaking the law. Any colored tint that is not OEM is illegal, even with a doctor's note.

well first you may want to look into any possible points with the ticket. That would be a deciding factor on the paying or fighting of the ticket.
Just a heads up.

I was told no points for the tint. It is not a moving violation. The ticket actually says Faulty Equipment, then in the notes says remove tint.

Two options: Remove the tint and don't get fined $106 (set up a court date of course so the officer can check it out), OR Pay the ticket and hope to not get pulled over again. They can charge you for the offense as much as they want (shouldn't be any points since it's not a moving violation). So, if you live in a small town and the officer wanted to pull you over once a week for not taking off the tint s/he can.

I've had the tint on for a while, and this is the first time anyone said anything about it. If I can't get someone to sign my warning today, I'll just wait for the ticket in the mail.

Thanks.

To remove "tint boogies" a little gasoline works wonders. Just don't spill it on the interior anywhere and make sure you then clean it real good with soapy water and then treat her to a wiping using "Invisible Glass"
