stupid power windows

Alright, I'm having an issue with my passenger side front window-whenever I close it, it goes up but once it gets to the top is comes almost all the way down again by itself-i then have to close it again & it works fine-is it b/c it's off the track a little or could it be something electrical?

Do you drive a Volkswagen? Window regulators on those things are notorious for sucking.

im assuming your car has the auto up feature and what may be happening is when it gets to the top it thinks that something like someones arm is in the way and as a safety it rolls back down. there is probably some way to calibrate this. what kind of car do you have?

My passenger window goes up wayyyyyyy slow as compared to the rest of my windows, and even slower when another window is going up at the same time. Not much of a problem, just extremely annoying.

it is a possibility but to have it go all of the way up and not make a noise kind of eliminates that. if something is stuck in the track when the regulator hits it, it will make a scraping noise as it tries to go past it. this same concern happens with volvos all the time and most of the time it just needs to be recalibrated to let the regulator know where the top position is. with some cars if you roll the window up all the way without using the auto feature and then pull on the switch again for about 10 seconds it will recalibrate the window stop position.

The problem might not be whats in the track, but whats NOT in it... It could need grease. Take your door skin off and look at the tracks. Hopefully in your car you should be able to see some of them. If there is little of no grease in there, thats the problem.

It could also be just that the motor is worn out. Another reason is the contacts on the window switch are bad. If thats the case, open the switch up and put some electrical grease on there. If its that the window tracks are bad, put some lithium grease on there.

....and if its a vw.....forget it your screwed

I keed....only because Ive been there (twice!!)
