98 eclipse facory alarm

i was just wondering if there was something wrong with my alarm because it never worked since i bought the car. also i don't have the owners manual so i was thinking that maybe the person before disabled the alarm or something using the manual. does anyone know how to re enable it or anythuing like that. the light blinks and the wires and everything are connected. if you have any idea let me know. thanks

when you lock the doors does the "security" light come on for about 30 seconds?

That could be a good thing.

I dread the moment I hear my car alarm go off.

ok try this:

Get in your car shut your door roll down the windows, then open the door and hit the lock button. The security light should go on.

Shut the door and wait like 1 minute

then reach in and open the lock manually (not using the unlock button but flipping the door lock by hand and open the door from the outside of the car.

the alarm should go off
