Quick exhaust video before headers

Well finally got my pacesetter midtubes, should be installed this weekend/next week, so I'll get a video of what it sounds like after the headers. Bolt on 3.8L.

Current stock manifolds/y pipe, "high flow" cat, ;) Flowtech 2.5 in/out glasspack, custom side exit. Before cat is 3 inch, after cat is 2.25 inch.

Here's the video, sorry for the cell phone video, won't have a camera until after December. In person it doesn't "scream" nearly as much when you rev it up. Let me know what you think, I'm toying around with getting a different muffler.

Midlengths headers for those V6's are pretty expensive in comparison that I spent $10 more for their LS1 longtubes. But by all means if you've got the money to play, I can't judge you lol Have fun with it!

Nah. Maybe the chromed ones, I bought black painted ones(sanding down and respraying them with grill paint) and they only cost 210 brand new and I got free shipping, I doubt you got those longtubes for 220. Post a few pics of your car, I'm assuming its a maro/TA, I don't care if its off topic, no one on tst cares about a v6 pony car lol, hence why this thread is dead.

Yeah, I picked up the coated LT's. They were $10 more than the coated V6 mids lol.

Here are a few pics.

Stock manifold next to a long tube lol

Very nice to another f-body on here, car looks great, I've always liked them in white. Is it a real ws6? Also what kind of wheels you running they look good.LT's are awesome, no one makes them for the v6 anymore. I need a retune anyway, I've outgrown the last one, I'm really hoping to see around 15-20 hp gains after I tune for them, the early 3.8ls have awful manifolds, so I guess that's close to what we pick up with a high flowing exhaust and a tune.

LPC isnt bad I did my LS headers for 175, my RB manifold, downpipe, screamer pipe, 3SGTE manfold and downpipe for $300.00. Rust prevention, looks great, and holds the heat back

I agree it is one of those things I'd ever go without. Nothing more important then keeping engine bay temps down and keeping exhaust gas temps up to maintain velocity.

But at the same time this is a V6. A few weeks ago he was trying to sell, couldn't get what he wanted, and is modding again. I'm sure he will realize he is wasting is money again soon enough.

I don't know if you would have the ability to do this, but doing a true dual setup and ditching the y pipe sounds so much better on the 3.8

Borla XR-1 mufflers will always sound better then glasspacks. Don't need a true duel to get a good 1 in/2 out muffler.

Seems like going true duals helps rid the V6 of some of it's rasp that they tend to have.

Yup, it's a real WS6. The wheels are HP Design HPR5's, the company went out of business a few years back. The wheels aren't in very good shape, the chrome is peeling pretty badly and there is a small crack on the inside of the right front tire. I wanted a black one, but seeing the white grew on me more and more. I would still kill for a Bright Purple Metallic WS6 though lol

It's worth the money, but at the same time it isn't. The grill paint is good to 1200 degrees, and although it doesn't have the same heat benefits, it should have just about all the rust benefits with a few good coats.

Thats not true. Hot Jet Coating is on the inside and outside of the header. Its worlds better. That grill paint will burn off fairly quickly.

Modifying a car in anyway is a "waste of money" but I fail to see how modifying my car is a bigger waste than any other person on this forum unless they race professionally. The 3.8l can handle 400hp stock, without a single thing being replaced, there's a few with big turbo's doing it right now. There's an 11 second v6 camaro on fullthrottlev6 right now.

I've been considering a borla, but idk if I like the idle sound as much as the glasspack. True duals are a big help with the rasp, especially with an h/x pipe. I'm lowering the car a lot though (1.5-2 inches), and the current set-up sits too low, as wood true duals I think, there's just no room under these cars. I did it at a buddy's house for no cost, so it was well worth it. I get tons of compliments on how it sounds, imo way better than a flowmaster/magnaflow catback.

For cost/inspection/weight, I'm not going true duals though. I'm hoping to take it to a muffler shop and have new piping bent up much closer to the body, or replace the muffler with something shorter, like an slp bullet. If I don't get another inch of clearance, I'm going to send it out the back again, but It's gonna be a full 2.5inch pipe all the way to the last foot, then a split with two 3 inch tips that touch each other, similar to the look of 240sx blast pipe or whatever they call them haha.

Nice, I've actually heard of the company before, I really like that style of wheel, it fits the TA body quite well. That sucks about thier condition but nothing you couldn't get fixed if you wanted too. Almost all ws6's are in black, kinda boring, I really like the white. Agreed on the purple, its one of the rarest f-body colors, but honestly one of the nicest. I also wish they made the Camaro in yellow, I guess only the Firebird came in it for a year or two. I'll see if I can dig it up, but I had a website saved with a list of all the colors and how many cars were painted, what years, etc. Black is actually the most common color across the board but It's still my favorite general car color.

EDIT: I knew I bookmarked it, its pretty cool actually, I really wish my car was that purple haha. https://sites.google.com/site/brange...olorproduction

Yeah, the purple is an amazing color. I don't remember if they only made 13 Trans Am's with the WS6 package in purple or if it was only 13 with the 6-speed. I just know it's crazy rare. In 2002 they released the "CETA" Collector's Edition Trans Am which was the yellow and black one. If you look at the rear bumper where the exhaust tips stick out, that section is yellow. It's a trend that caught on very heavily in the Trans Am world. The previous owner of my car did it as well. It really makes the color pop, regardless of the cars color.
