02 z28 camaro build.

Well bought the camaro I have wanted for a long time, a 2001 z28 with 74,000 miles and no power options not even cruise control and a hardtop. It is a auto car no traction control. It has been garage kept since the guy bought it new, the car is very clean in and out.

Well after a month of owning and driving the car under 500 miles, went to start after a couple days of sitting. There was the noise no car person never wants to hear, what sounded like a spun rod bearing. After some parts start coming off found about 2 cups of water in the intake manifold. Come to find out the cowl was leaking water on to the intake and water got into engine and hydro locked.

Now I will be pulling the engine and putting a 4.8 or 5.3 for now.

Nice to see another Camaro owner on here! Not a bad looking catfish, is it pewter or silver? Sucks that happened to the engine man, my buddy is building a 5.3 turbo motor at the moment, deff a cheap and solid alternative, good luck with the swap!

Thanks it is pewter, it has a broken rod. Don't know if it has any block damage yet, lets hope not. Even if the block does not have damage Im still looking into doing a 5.3 that way i can throw some boost at it.

This weekend finally got to pulling the motor, yes it came out the top with the trans with no help haha. I did buy another short block with 60k on it, but I may still just throw a junkyard motor in it. I also bought long tubes and poly mounts to be put back in when time comes. Couple pictures of the fun.

Well not much has happened. This car was meant to be something to enjoy and flip for some cash. It now has turned into a project. I started the process of tucking the harness in the engine bay and deleting the a.c. box. Will also repaint the bay. Now a picture of what little progress has been made lol.
