What car is this for? I thought my Supra took R12 at first but it ended up using R134a...

you can get a conversion kit to r134a for about $50 at most autoparts stores.
R12 is expensive, like $40-$60 a lbs if/when you find someone that still has it.

i need to do the conversion on my jeep

If memory serves me correctly, it's illegal to refill or service R12 AC systems but I'm not entirely sure - or maybe it's just illegal for sale.

That being said, I'm pretty sure there is a refrigerant that's compatible with R12 systems, something like R409xx - I think.

Interestingly enough I have a propane tank sized bottle of R12 sitting in my Garage but don't have the fittings for it. :/

If I were you id replace the a/c components and refill with 134a. Its just that much easier. Freon is changing over to some synthetic stuff on newer cars. 134a is starting to increase big time though.

Illegal to vent to the atmosphere. Not illegal to buy or service. You need the EPA 609 license to legally buy R-12.

R12 is 10x better then 134a. Well worth to continue using if you can get a shop to do the refil

from my reading you need a license to buy Freeze-12 (could be wrong) I've been looking into eviro-safe's R-134a R12 Sub Alternate A/C Recharge Kit. It says it's compatible, and from the people that have used it they say it works well. There is some concern about it's safety, being it's a hydrocarbonate (i think)

r-12 is still around and is better than r-134a, but it's rare that a shop will still do the re-charge due to the EPA and penalties.

I'm thinking of going the enviro-safe route. $35 for a full kit including fittings, gauges, and a leak stopper.
