Stage 2 what? Are you talking about a srt4? If so they dont have 16g's they have a 15g (im pretty sure)
Only reason i suggest srt4 is cause there is no other car out there that people talk abotu stage upgrades on.

No, not an SRT4.

And she just told me it's not the DSM turbo. It's a 16g TD05H, and she said it's a stage 2.

Hell if I know what that means...I deal in Garrett, not Mitsu.

Nm, she found a link...looks like 15psi...on her stock n/a bottom end. I think I should tell her to get a smaller spring.

I'm not sure what you're reading on that site, but I don't see anywhere that it says 15PSI waste gate spring.

On my 14b (all the same as a 16g) I could never get the boost below 11 or 12PSI. I'm also wondering what this "stage 2" is that you mention.

"...at 15 PSI boost Supports 340 HP."

Stage two would probably refer to porting of the turbine housing. Stage three use to mean clipping the turbine wheel.

These are old terms probably first used by Buschur. I suppose most people just say it is ported or clipped now instead of referring to stage 2, 3 or whatever.

And there is no difference. It should still be around 8psi. Problem is if they port the wastegate then it is possible it might be more depending on tune and exhaust parts.

8psi through a 16g compressor wheel and a 7cm turbine housing will give you more power than 8psi through a 14b compressor wheel and 6cm turbine housing.

The turbo will have more top end but will also spool slower. Probably better for fuel effeciency but less torque means it will not be as good for a daily driver.

If this is for a NT car why not go with a used 14b instead. The 14b will be much better with low boost applications and they will cost her a lot less than buying a 16g.
