Interest in a political section?

I know that only a small number of us have been involved in the "trouble in the middle east" thread but I for one enjoy a good political discussion. I am interested to see how many people would be interested in having more of these friendly discussions. I feel that a large portion of our generation just doesnt appear to care about politics. I for one think it would be a good thing even if people didnt participate they may can to come in and read up on differing opinions. With everythig going on in the world today there would nto be a lack of topics to discuss.

No more, please.... lol. I'd rather talk about all things cars. I only commented cause initially it looked like a one-sided battle.

Thats the point though, this country and our generation is getting more and more averse to discussing anything that may cause tension. ANytime someone says something that is even the slight bit non-pc alot of people cower in a corner and hope it will just go away. To me its very depressing. I am just hoping to try and get more of our generation into what is goin on in our country and world.

Racial slurs really arent politics they are ethics. I was more interested in things dealing with iraq, demostic spying, and things of that nature.

i only have experience with this from a users point of view, but i'd say that most forums do not allow the discussion of politics for a reason. it always turns into a huge argument.
if you want to talk about stuff in OT then feel free... if things go well then we'll support it. if they dont go well then we may not allow it in the future. its all in how well people can keep their cool with highly debated subjects.

on teamzx2.com we have a politics forum that remains pretty civil... and hey, if you don't want to hit any threads like it, you know to avoid the section... thats actaully why we started one in the first place... there were just way too many threads during the '04 election

Bingo. Talking politics with someone with different views never gets you anywhere.

Why not make it a sub-forum of OT?

If it is in it's own space then those that wish to avoid it will.

Instead of politics call it "Heated Debates" then we can argue more about the airplane on the conveyor too.

Yes, thats what i was going for. If it becomes a forum the airplane thread needs to be a sticky.

There will be more fights and crap than can be imagined. Rule of thumb, dont talk about religion....dont talk about politics. That will send any conversation from 0 to pissed REAL quick.
